Daughter #2, while she wants to learn to handle a handgun safely, said yesterday, "I do think it should be harder for people to buy guns." I didn't pound on 2A because that's not what works with her. Any suggestions on sources for her to get comfortable with "shall not be infringed"?

Her question to you says more than you think:
1. She believes that getting a gun is easy
2. She believes that people got guns legally that shouldn’t have had them.
3. She didn’t frame the question ‘why do some people shoot other people’ which would have shown ‘critical thinking (for herself). She addressed the ‘gun’ not the ‘behavior’.
Everything she ‘believes’ is someone else’s narrative (definitely not yours) which she never questioned. That’s a huge problem and something you should have taught her (critical thinking). Additionally, you admit that she ‘isn’t emothionally (mentally) prepared to hear about 2a’. Really?
Too many continue to treat their grown children like 5 year olds. And they will teach their children that same nonsense. The absence of critical thinking amongst most is how we got here and why problems are never solved. They are ALL asking the wrong questions purposely.
It’s not that hard to buy a gun in most places

The participants in the Warsaw Uprising of 1944 were much more heavily armed and they suffered the same fate as the Jews did in the Warsaw Uprising of 1943.

I had the same conversation about guns with my med student son. We came to a compromise: having a gun is much like having a car. It is not out of the question (for either of us) to require some training in the use of a gun, proper storage, etc. No one in the US (with the exception of illegals) can drive a car without training. I have no problem with people receiving proper training once they purchase a gun.

Perhaps I wasn’t clear: she’s interested in getting and knowing how to use a handgun to protect her and her young child. She understands that it’s her constitutional right. She’s having a bit of trouble accepting that that right means some people who perhaps shouldn’t have guns can get them anyway. I’m feeding her info (not just Dad’s opinion) on purchase procedures and requirements to show her that the safeguards are there, they’re just not perhaps observed as fully as they should be.
Depending where you live, tell her to try to go buy one.

Well, suggest that the idea of “no guns” should apply to the govt, since the govt loves guns and loves killing people..even in far away countries.

It already is. Thanks to Biden’s higher prices for gas and groceries, people have less money to spend on guns because the money has to be spent on gas o line and groceries.
