Daughter #2, while she wants to learn to handle a handgun safely, said yesterday, "I do think it should be harder for people to buy guns." I didn't pound on 2A because that's not what works with her. Any suggestions on sources for her to get comfortable with "shall not be infringed"?
“I didn’t pound on 2A because that’s not what works with her.”
Why doesn’t it work with her?
And the Jews of Schindler’s List would have suffered the same fate had they been armed in the 1930’s.
Go to GAB and search #selfDefens
“Shani Louk”
“Shani Louk”
“Say her name!”
First get her to explain just what she means by “guns”. All guns? If not all guns, then which guns? What if the guns she means already are either restricted from purchase in some way. Just how should this be made harder?
Then get her to explain what she means by “harder to buy” Does she mean only sold to those over 21 years of age? Does she mean more extensive background checks? Does she want to eliminate private sales?
Finally ask her just what making the purchase and possession of guns more difficult for law abiding people is supposed to accomplish? Less crime? Fewer accidental shootings? Making her personally safer?
At that point walk her through what restrictions already apply to the purchase and possession of firearms. Patiently explain to her that somehow criminals still manage to flaunt these pesky rules and laws and still get guns and commit crimes!!! A shocker, I know.
You might ask her to explain why when guns were a common part of the culture it do not mean more accidental shootings. See if you can get her to understand violence is downstream from the culture. It is not downstream from legal gun ownership.
Great post, bookmarking
Massachusetts laws don’t look that hard to meet. Not much different then what I had to do to get a CPL in my home state of Michigan.

Tell her about the Rodney King riots in LA and those who had to deal with the waiting period to buy firearms. Then tell her about the Korean store owners.
Take her to buy a gun to go through the process.
This is the perfect time for conservatives to push through comprehensive mental health legal changes an increase the number of mental health beds a tenfold
Yes, but think of the inconvenience of all the special elections that would have to be held to fill empty seats in Congress.
give her an object lesson on the realities of life. drop her off at one end of the hood and tell her you’ll pick her up at the other end in one hour. then don’t show up for two.
And if Each adult Jew took several Nazis with him?....
I must be missing something. Those mentally ill patients were clean, freshly clothed, well-fed, and out of the elements.
The alternative, as we see throughout the country, is to have them out on the streets, filthy, addicted to drugs, and malnourished.
How does she know how hard or easy it is to buy a gun? When leftists say it’s easy to legally buy a gun, I ask “have you ever bought one.”. The answer is always no. They’re all about feeeeeeeeeeeeeelings.
Ask her what she means. She probably doesn’t know how many rules there are for buying guns
Then ask what she would do if the car broke down.
The gun laws we have now aren’t working.
New ones are not going to stop someone determined to use a gun for violence.
Nor how many places guns are forbidden yet nothing in place to stop the bad person from coming there and murderering.
