Suzanne Somers, the effervescent blonde actor known for playing Chrissy Snow on the television show “Three’s Company” as well as her business endeavors, has died. She was 76.
Somers had breast cancer for over 23 years and died Sunday morning, her family said in a statement provided by her longtime publicist, R. Couri Hay. Her husband Alan Hamel, her son Bruce and other immediate family were with her in Palm Springs, California.
“Her family was gathered to celebrate her 77th birthday on October 16th,” the statement read. “Instead, they will celebrate her extraordinary life, and want to thank her millions of fans and followers who loved her dearly.”
In July, Somers shared on Instagram that her breast cancer had returned.
“Like any cancer patient, when you get that dreaded, ‘It’s back’ you get a pit in your stomach. Then I put on my battle gear and go to war," she told Entertainment Tonight at the time. "This is familiar battleground for me and I’m very tough.”

I know her cousin. Actually I’m married to her cousin.
Ok, second or third cousin who never met but kin all the same.
Suzanne had a lumpectomy. Angelina Jolie cut it all off as a prevention.
Hard choices people face when dealing with Cancer.
Lovely family - the ones I knew.
Has your family done the genetic counseling? I think it is likely she had some kind of genetic predisposition.
The interesting thing about Chris Evert is that she did the counseling but then later more variations were found to be a concern. Probably in the “uncertain significance” category that then moved categories. It saved her life.
Remember one story about her....it was her mother (or father)’s birthday. There was only one tiny present on the table from Suzanne. It was the key to a new car!
If you meet certain requirements you can get free genetic testing. Ovarian cancer in the family puts you at the top of the list...even ahead of breast cancer. My insurance tried to deny me and I successfully fought it based on the recognized parameters. Breast cancer requires more hurdles than Ovarian cancer.
And if you are Ashkenazi Jew... well then... you have hit the testing jackpot. Some really bad Genes in that gene pool.
Rest In Peace, Suzanne.
Poster girl of when life was good.
Why do you feel it necessary to come on this thread and crap on her..if you don’t care you could just bypass the thread.
Its not that she was someone I did not know. Its worse than that. She is famous for the very worst show on TV. I will also not morn the guy in the Barney suit whenever he dies.
nice comeback
R.I.P., Suzanne and I’ll send up a prayer for her loved ones.
I lost my closest sister to that evil disease in 2020. She was 52. :(
She ended up bigger then her co-stars and lasted decades in the entertainment industry.
#24 Ahem... I have seen that same pose but she is naked.
She did playboy shoots twice.
He had one liver transplant and when it reoccured he decided to try alt treatment. He stated it was the worse mistake of his life.
Just the other day I asked someone, “Who was the blonde in the White T-Bird?”
I'm thinking you are making this up.
How is it you know how aggressive her cancer was?
Do you have studies that show her non-medical treatment works? Modern medicine is based on those studies in case you didn't know.
We all get to make our own decisions about our lives. You can buy into the snake oil, but as a surviving cancer patient, it's not for me.
I was diagnosed in 2014 with cancer, which has a five-year mortality rate of 50%. I took myself, after being diagnosed at a large regional center, to the top cancer center in the country -- MD Anderson. That was ten years ago at age 69. Today, I work full-time and walk about 3 to 5 miles every day.
Only God knows when my time is up -- not me. But I'm working to improve the odds.
I still go to MDA every six months for checkups. When I go, I always talk to other patients. 75% tell me their life was saved because of the treatment they received at MDA and that they were misdiagnosed and not treated properly locally.
And then there are those on the internet forums that do all types of crazy treatments. The most bizarre is coffee enema treatments in Mexico.
I tell anyone I meet who receives a cancer diagnosis who will listen they should travel to a top cancer center (less than 10 in the country) for at least a second opinion if they want the best outcome. Otherwise, they're rolling the dice with their life.
Proper diagnosis is essential, and after that comes the knowledge of the docs and even the research staff for the proper treatment. Diagnostic capability at the top 10 cancer centers is orders of magnitude better than local, regional centers. Snake oil treatments don't even move the needle!
Do you know the reaction from most when I tell them to go for a second opinion? The response is, "I've got the smartest doctor around, and he is the best to be found." My next encounter with them is often at their funeral!
Somers refused chemo and was rediagnosed several years later with cancer that has a relative survival rate of 85% at ten years (not deadly). Actually, so did Jobs. Yes, she went beyond that. Where would she be if she had followed modern medicine?
You can support snake oil if you wish, but I much prefer to trust science with my life. And science says alternative treatments are deadly.
NIH: Forgoing Conventional Cancer Treatments for Alternative Medicine Increases Risk of Death
Please show me data and studies that support your snake oil.
Thank you.
WTH are you on this thread for? You think we all care about your thoughts?
I'm not sure you know much about modern cancer treatment.
There are many medical treatment options that DO NOT call for cutting, chemotherapy, or radiation.
If diagnosed and you do your homework (go to a top cancer center for a second opinion), you have a much better chance of survival.
Stanford is a top center out of ten or so in the country.
I've never read that Jobs went to Stanford for treatment.
Jobs used non-medical snake-oil treatments until it was too late.
