I have two dogs and a cat share with an ex, but I cannot keep a plant alive. My planticide aside, houseplants are all the rage with millennials, but why do millennials love plants? The history of houseplants might surprise you. Apparently, millennials are tending to plants to satisfying their need to nurture. And, while it might be the latest millennial obsession, immigrant communities have long grown plants for reasons entirely different reasons.

Does that make Nero Wolfe the first Millenial? He doesn't do much to exercise his nurturing instinct elsewhere.

It's because millennial's own no property. A little flower pot is as close to "farming" as they're ever going
to get. But hey, there is a a Starbucks adjacent to their apartment building. How cool is that! /sarc

Great show. Unfortunately the guy who played Nero Wolfe died.

The Globalist vision for “Green” cities seems about vegetation everywhere there are mock pictures out there of cities in 2050 so I guess we must be conditioned in this direction.

Oh, the horror.

“”The Globalist vision for ‘Green’ cities seems about vegetation everywhere””

Yes. Once the democRAT cities are abandoned, the plants will reclaim the real estate.

Reminds me of my archaeology experience in Central America. Those Raider of the Lost Ark jungle scenes are very close to reality (except for the headhunters). The jungle will take back areas that have been cleared. Humans have to continually cut back the advancing plants.

Being able to keep plants healthy is a way to gauge how in tune you are with yourself and the world around you.

Being good with animals, with children, with plants, is a good sign.

I can only say that any plants, indoor or out- have to have an extremely strong survival instinct if I have anything to do with them.

I don't think there's anything special about millennials and plants, but I do want to know if they invented "cat shares."

It's a perfectly innocent hobby plus plants are a great source of pharmaceuticals as Hannah here demonstrates.

Dunno. But plants with big leaves have been proven to filter out all sorts of nasty things in indoor air. As does the “living” soil they are planted in.

Bringing a little outdoors inside is a good thing.

Don’t overwater them.

I had a couple plants that always looked pathetic and were basically dying on me.

I just let them go, figuring they were goners anyways. When I looked at them several weeks later, I was surprised to find new, healthy looking growth on them. They did better with me neglecting them than with me fussing over them.
