There’s a lesson to take from China’s abandoned electric cars that are going viral right now, and it’s not that EVs won’t work.
Over the last month or so, you might have seen many videos and articles about “thousands of abandoned electric vehicles in China.”
EV naysayers have used those stories to argue that electric vehicles will fail. However, that’s not really the lesson to take away from this unfortunate situation.
First off, it’s true that there are thousands of electric vehicles abandoned in fields around cities in China – possibly tens of thousands. However, almost all of them are electric vehicles that were part of car-sharing or

Well EV's have failed again and again.
All right, I’m going to skirt the line here: These MFers haven’t learned from the collapse of entire communist countries. They aren’t about to learn anything from a bunch of abandoned EVs.
Lots of video on YouTube regarding the Electric Vehicles bought by the ChiCom Goobermint to falsely claim they are leading the world in EV sale.
The MOUNTAINS of abandoned rental bikes, in brite candy colors, is another phony Boom Bust of that biz.
this all about ccp production numbers not manufacturing
The article says that almost all of the electric vehicles were part of car-sharing or ride-hailing services that have failed.
I don’t what conclusions to draw from that.
Liberals follow many stupid beliefs. Here’s probably the most important one:
“This time it will be different.”
Me: That program has failed in the past. How will it be different this time?
Liberal: Uh, just because. You’re a hater for even asking that question.
Okay, who’s the idiot that ordered the Red one?................
The only lessons we learn are the ones the Chinese pay our media and politicians to teach us.
Many things going on here. One is the scam of the CCP to bring in foreign investors saying, “See. We’re making tons of EV’s and they’re selling! Besides, we’re the country that’s setting up coal plants to make power from them.”, before, oh yeah, with ghost towns there are no real buyers. Oh, yeah. China’s economy is falling like the house of cards it’s always been. And these cars don’t export well with only 50 to 100 miles range.
leave them unlocked on the street, and have them get stolen, and shipped to Africa. Claim insurance.
Granted, that’s a lot harder to do in China than in, say, Montreal, New York, or Chicago - but its worth a try.
“However, almost all of them are electric vehicles that were part of car-sharing or ride-hailing services that have failed in the country.”
That is part of the key point. There is a HUGE market for these kinds of used GAS POWERED cars in the US. However, used EVs are basically unsellable. The idiot author of this article completely misses this fact.
I tried to address that in my post 12: https://freerepublic.com/focus/chat/4185846/posts?page=12#12
Check
Imagine the insanity of a densely populated city making mass transit take a back seat to yet more vehicles on already traffic-choked streets. Even ride-sharing of 4-6 people tops can’t compare to a bus that can handle around 50 passengers, some apparently up to 90.
The next article will explain why the Ghost Cities are just fine.
The issue isn’t the failure of EV’s. It is the failure of Marxist central planning.
“The issue isn’t the failure of EV’s. It is the failure of Marxist central planning.”
Isn’t it funny that the same EV mandate central planning is taking place in the formerly United States
“Oh, yeah. China’s economy is falling like the house of cards it’s always been. And these cars don’t export well with only 50 to 100 miles range.”
Careful. You’re going to upset FR’s “China is superman” infiltrators.
Liberal Leftists and Democrats will always give you the exact same reason why things will be better this time: Because we are going to spend more money!
If something is failing, it needs more taxpayer dollars to succeed!
If something is successful, it needs more taxpayer dollars to be shared with more people!
If something doesn’t require money, REGULATE THE HELL OUT OF IT UNTIL IT NEEDS TAXPAYER DOLLARS! And next year it will need MORE taxpayer dollars!
“I tried to address that in my post 12:”
Missed that. I’m always in a hurry.
You claim that used EVs are “basically unsellable”.
Do you think that’s true worldwide?
A relative who lives in Chapel Hill bought a Rivian. His dealer is 300 miles away.
I went to the Rivian website and asked where dealerships are. Here’s the link:

Hint: they don’t mention any dealerships.
