There’s a lesson to take from China’s abandoned electric cars that are going viral right now, and it’s not that EVs won’t work.

Over the last month or so, you might have seen many videos and articles about “thousands of abandoned electric vehicles in China.”

EV naysayers have used those stories to argue that electric vehicles will fail. However, that’s not really the lesson to take away from this unfortunate situation.

First off, it’s true that there are thousands of electric vehicles abandoned in fields around cities in China – possibly tens of thousands. However, almost all of them are electric vehicles that were part of car-sharing or

the mass transit in most Chinese cities negated the need for EV sharing, also few places to park and charge.

Cannot speak to worldwide. My info is mostly limited to US.

And maybe I overstated. You can buy a used EV. The problem is if it’s a few years old you have to deal with the batteries.

Once again the story changes
to the false benifit of EV’s.
Previously it was reported
that the overproduction of
these vehicles was due to
China’s government subsidies.
A mad rush to rake in the
dough. There is a limited
market for these pipe dreams.
Mild winters put woodcutters
out of business.

When a company goes bust, it commonly sells assets to raise money to pay creditors. This implies no buyers.
