Bob Menendez: "Innocent until proven guilty"
Twitter/X ^ | Sep 25 | Bob Menendez

Sen. Menendez: "A cornerstone of the foundation of American democracy and our justice system is the principle that all people are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The court of public opinion is no substitute for our revered justice system. We cannot set aside the resumption of innocence for political expediency when the harm is irrevocable... Instead of waiting for all the facts to be presented, others have rushed to judgment because they see a political opportunity for themselves or those around them."

This:

“Screw Bob Memendez’ presumption that stacks of cash and gold bars hidden his closet have an simple and innocent explanation and he’s deserving of the benefit of the doubt.”

“Revered justice system” That’s a real howler right there.

Funny you say that, I actually chuckled when I read it.

Innocent until proven guilty is a legal concept, not a social one.
We are entitled to presume anything we like if we are not the judge or jury.

As others have pointed out, if the legal concept doesn’t apply to all, it applies to none.

PS: If memory serves, he had over $400K in cash in his house. If you or I were to have $10K in cash in our home, the IRS (if it knew) would raid our home and confiscate the cash on the premise that we had committed crimes to acquire said cash. Has happened numerous times.

If the sleazeball was not a Democrat, all the news stories would be pointing out 24/7 how he must be dirty hiding that much cash. But for him??

They knew about Kennedy and did nothing.

They're all guilty.

If you're a dim sinator, you're in about the most protected group you'll ever be in.

With the D behind your name, you get innocents even if proven guilty or better yet, innocent and no need for an investigation.

Tell that to all those locked up without bail or many civil rights in the government dragnet associated with January 6th.

“I can’t wait to hear his explanation of how that much cash got in his closets....”

He already publicly gave that explanation.

Life is hard as a US Senator—so you need to have a lot of cash around. He didn’t trust banks so he kept all the legally earned cash at home.

You asked for his explanation....

;-)

I live in New Jersey and I don't like Menendez, but after looking at the pictures of the "evidence" of the gold bars and cash splayed out,
it reminds me of the photos of the Mara-largo raid where they laid things out in an "orgy of evidence" fashion.
Seems like the democRats want to replace Bob Menendez with another power puppet.
They knew he was corrupt and now they are using that knowledge for some purpose.
Just curious. Did the Obama's recently buy a home in New Jersey?

But feds are very attentive to large cash stashes. So he will still need some sort of backup which im sure he cant produce.

He’s toast — eventually.

For now, the Rats will keep him around for 2 reasons:

1. So they can “virtue signal” about how honest and ethical the rest of them are. Once this cockroach bites the dust, they can’t bleat about their own virtue so much.

2. To be used, when necessary, as a distraction from the Biden Family crimes, Democrat vote fraud, and other more important issues.

He opposed the Iran deal.

But this may be more because nobody indicted Trump for anything this month and Biden needs a distraction from his Hunter problem and impeachment.

The timing's not that great. If it were later, it would push Biden's bad news out of the headlines, but Menendez's case will drag on and give the press something to focus on other than Biden's problems.
