Caught in a lie, CEO of embattled firm caring for NYC migrants resigns

NEW YORK (AP) — The chief executive officer of a firm hired by New York City to house and care for hundreds of migrants abruptly resigned Friday after he admitted to lying about his educational record and as DocGo has come under scrutiny for its $432 million no-bid contract with the city.

Anthony Capone’s resignation came after the Albany Times Union reported earlier in the day that Capone had lied about having a graduate degree in artificial intelligence from Clarkson University. The university told the paper that Capone had never attended the university.

Capone later admitted to the paper he had never earned a graduate degree from any institution of learning.

“I take full responsibility and am making immediate corrections to all official bios, profiles and any other materials where this incorrect information appears,” he had said in a statement.

The company confirmed Capone’s resignation Friday in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, which said the company’s president and chief operating officer, Lee Bienstock, had been appointed the new CEO.

The filing cited “personal reasons” for his resignation, which was effective immediately.

DocGo was already under scrutiny when its no-bid contract with New York City came to light, prompting questions about what services the company was providing — as well as the quality of those services. Neither the company nor city officials were willing to voluntarily disclose details of the contract.

Earlier this month, New York City Comptroller Brad Lander said there were “numerous outstanding issues and concerns” that prompted him to reject the city’s $432 million no-bid emergency contract with DocGo.

Interesting timing...

Oh man, this stuff never ends. One wonders in how many cities do you have multiple incidents ocurring like this. Many of us ACTUALLY worked extremely hard for our educational credentials and skills, but because of our conservative point of view can barely stay employed. Hell is not hot enough...

Aside from the covert corruption that is going on, look at what they do openly, like the salaries the executives of these NGO’s draw. No doubt that Capone was getting a huge six figure paycheck. Usually 75% of these “grants” are absorbed by “administrative” costs, aka skimming. Who knows how many billions are getting stolen every year by these grants?

Anthony Capone is a jerk for sure.

Tell me about the jerk in HR who looked at his ‘resume’ and said, ‘Here’s our guy.” THAT’S the real criminal

. . . $432 million no-bid contract with the city.

That should be a red flag to any honest government official.

The whole point of NYC government is to separate the rubes from their dollars.

There must have been other reasons he was booted from a good job like that, other, far more urgent and of immediate consequence. This was a way to end his association quickly and with relatively little effort on their part.

Among the great scams of these last decades has been the 501(c)3 and related "tax exempt" organizations, originally intended to do charitable work by raising private-source funds. Many have become very well-paying entities as the upper echelon get salary and benefits and perks aplenty from public money "granted" to them.

The politically well-connected have used the "grants" game for decades now. It is essentially legalized theft for the benefit of few, while giving the appearance of "good works."

In my view, "tax-exempt" organizations should only be allowed to receive donations from the private sphere, and the public at any level -- municipal to federal -- should be barred from participation.

Recall the emergence of the "public-private" and "stakeholders" sort of verbiage was heightened greatly as far back as the Clinton administration. Corruption magnifies, as a cancer.

Like the opah/rock ten million dollar donation. The rumored reason for
requested public donations is the ten million was/is to be used to set up
the foundation.

Yep, it's all a Perfect Storm to destroy the Republic. Open borders. Human trash living on sidewalks and under overpasses. Legal drugs. It's almost as if ........

Eph 6:11-12: ......stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places
