Oh man, this stuff never ends. One wonders in how many cities do you have multiple incidents ocurring like this. Many of us ACTUALLY worked extremely hard for our educational credentials and skills, but because of our conservative point of view can barely stay employed. Hell is not hot enough...

Aside from the covert corruption that is going on, look at what they do openly, like the salaries the executives of these NGO’s draw. No doubt that Capone was getting a huge six figure paycheck. Usually 75% of these “grants” are absorbed by “administrative” costs, aka skimming. Who knows how many billions are getting stolen every year by these grants?

. . . $432 million no-bid contract with the city.

That should be a red flag to any honest government official.

There must have been other reasons he was booted from a good job like that, other, far more urgent and of immediate consequence. This was a way to end his association quickly and with relatively little effort on their part.

Among the great scams of these last decades has been the 501(c)3 and related "tax exempt" organizations, originally intended to do charitable work by raising private-source funds. Many have become very well-paying entities as the upper echelon get salary and benefits and perks aplenty from public money "granted" to them.

The politically well-connected have used the "grants" game for decades now. It is essentially legalized theft for the benefit of few, while giving the appearance of "good works."

In my view, "tax-exempt" organizations should only be allowed to receive donations from the private sphere, and the public at any level -- municipal to federal -- should be barred from participation.

Recall the emergence of the "public-private" and "stakeholders" sort of verbiage was heightened greatly as far back as the Clinton administration. Corruption magnifies, as a cancer.
