A British woman surprised her American husband by making a bacon sandwich the traditional 'English' way - and says he was bowled over by the tasty treat. But her recipe for the perfect snack has left many others in the US in uproar.
Caroline Parker, who now lives in Boston, Massachusetts, recently took to TikTok to divulge the secrets to the popular dish.
The mom-of-two revealed the ingredients that go into the perfect creation and also revealed that the key was not toasting the bread.
But other social media users were left stunned by the process and did not hold back in the comments.
In the clip, which has so far been viewed more than 2.1 million times, Caroline can be seen standing in her kitchen as she speaks directly to camera.
Holding a frozen loaf of bread and pack of bacon, she begins: 'I am going to make my American husband an English bacon sandwich because I went to the Irish shop... don't ask me how much I spent.'
She defrosts the bread as she explains: 'There's a big difference between American and English bread - if you know, you know.'
Caroline continues: 'Compared to American bacon, you have to put a little bit of oil in the pan because it just has less fat.
'Obviously with streaky bacon, you don't need oil. I made that mistake when I first moved here.
'I prefer my bacon like this but that is definitely just because I'm used to it. This is what we eat back home. I don't know if my husband likes it like this but he's going to have it.'
She lets the bacon cook away in a frying pan before turning her attention to making the perfect bready base.

“ Don’t forget to add the vinegar. English love a sprinkle
of vinegar on their fish/chips.”
Malt vinegar. Has to be that.
Mmmm. Now I’m hungry.

Long John Silver, here we come......
Strange thing about fish. Fried is tarter sauce vote.
Shrimp boiled, scallops and other delicacy's it's the red chili sauce w/horseradish that gets the vote. All a matter of
taste combinations I guess.
That’s the ticket on the vinegar. Just a drop or two on each bite.
I do grilled shrimp cocktail with home made sauce myself. A touch or Creole seasoning on the shrimp and plenty of horseradish and Cholula in the sauce. Scallops get a quick sear in a raging hot pan. Then a sauce of white wine, butter, lemon juice, and a sprinkling of capers.
Delicious.

Beautiful bologna!
Toasted white bread with bacon and peanut butter! Try it! It’s amazing. Not too crispy on the bacon though.
White wine sauce sounds delicious. Could forego the capers
however. Not such a fan, never have been. Even in cocktails.
Then leave them out. It’s not wrong.
LOL.
The secret to a properly cooked scallop is a raging hot pan and just a touch of oil. Usually doesn’t take more than about 90 seconds or so. Don’t try to pull them up to flip them. When they’re seared right they’ll release from the pan. The outside should have a crisp sear on it while the inside is darned near raw.
Give it a try. I think you’ll enjoy it.
Best,
L
Gross.
Tips are always appreciated Thanks
I used to eat those too but you forgot the peanut butter.
Indian food is a carb con just like Italian, Mexican, and all the Asian foods. Oddly much of the Asian/Mexican foods wind up with the same flavor profile too. You can make your hamburger similarly “good” also, youre only a tablespoon of cumin and a hot pepper away from everything tasting like ass on a pile of rice.
There are no decent fish and chips in England. The only thing in the whole damned country that isnt over cooked is the English delicacy of half cooked fish clinging to life in its cold grease soaked life vest.
Bangers...every country in Europe has a basic pork sausage but only the English could make one that smells like it was seasoned with wet dog hair.
Or women.
BREAKFAST! lol Seriously, thanks for that. I”m going to give it a try this weekend!
I am going to try frying the bread in the bacon grease.
I tend to use mayonnaise instead of butter. Would not use ketchup on it.then again I will have SPAM, eggs with sirachi, kimchi, and rice for breakfast and loved cold C rations Chopped eggs and ham.
“Nobody in the world looks to the English for good food.”
hmmm... as a person who lived in the south of England from 2001 to 2005 I somewhat disagree - there are great English dishes:
1. Fish and chips - scrumptious.
2. Shepherd’s pie
3. Sausage butty
4. Cornish pasties
5. Bangers and mash
6. Chicken Tikka masala
7. Beef wellington
8. a proper cornwall or devon cream tea
One last thing. Make sure the scallops are really dry before you put them in the pan. Wet ones won’t wear right. Pat them down well with paper towels.
Enjoy.

Wouldn’t mind having one of those English breakfasts.
You can take the kids out of the country....
