Pope Francis has blasted the “backwardness” of some conservatives in the U.S. Catholic Church, saying they have replaced faith with ideology and that a correct understanding of Catholic doctrine allows for change over time.
Francis’ comments were an acknowledgment of the divisions in the U.S. Catholic Church, which has been split between progressives and conservatives who long found support in the doctrinaire papacies of St. John Paul II and Benedict XVI, particularly on issues of abortion and same-sex marriage.
Many conservatives have blasted Francis’ emphasis instead on social justice issues such as the environment and the poor, while also branding as heretical his opening to letting divorced and civilly remarried Catholics receive the sacraments.
Francis made the comments in a private meeting with Portuguese members of his Jesuit religious order while visiting Lisbon on Aug. 5; the Jesuit journal La Civilta Cattolica, which is vetted by the Vatican secretariat of state, published a transcript of the encounter Monday. During the meeting, a Portuguese Jesuit told Francis that he had suffered during a recent sabbatical year in the United States because he came across many Catholics, including some U.S. bishops, who criticized Francis’ 10-year papacy as well as today’s Jesuits. …

This Pope is an ass on his best day. Wonder what his pedo background is that’s more than likely been covered up.
Clicked the link but did not see exactly what Conservatives are to be rebuked for. For being pro-life? For being faithful to the teachings and commandments in the Bible.? Maybe Conservatives failure to rush our children to drag queen story hour? Or unwillingness to have open borders? For not wanting to allow Bobby to marry Jimmy in the cathedral?
Also, the notion of “...allowing the doctrine to change over time...” how far can or should it change? Popular vote? What the coolest celebrities are into?
That church will never learn to stay out of politics. It has served them so well over the centuries while they amassed a fortune.
He reminds me of those who claim the US Constitution is a “living’ document, subject to reinterpretation by each generation. But God gave us our rights guaranteed by the Constitution and God’s word is not subject to reinterpretation by any man. If it was our Constitution would become flexible as would our rights. This Pope is hopelessly influenced by Marxists.
This coming from a guy that has accepted homosexuality within the faith when his own document, the Bible, repels it calling it a sin? His family tree has no limbs.

The current pope? Probably not.
The basis of being a practicing homosexual?
Just guessing. Because it sure doesn't sound like what real Christian clergy would say. It sounds like what a fake clergy pushing a homosexual agenda would say.
“He promised the Spirit to guide His Church in all truth and it’s an unfolding revelation.”
“Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all, 27 for I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God. 28 Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.” - Acts 20
“I did not shrink from declaring to you THE WHOLE COUNSEL of God.”
Marxist atheist says what?
And yet books were written after that with deeper revelations… hmmm.
Just softening up the Catholic Church for his declarations of support for gay marriage, the LGBTQ agenda, and abortion.
I got an email from our diocese decrying racism along with a prayer from the pope to atone for my inherent racism.
I asked our Priest about this. He told me that it came from the boss in Rome.
He is Satan’s demon.
thank you...
Nope. The Apostle Paul spelled it out plainly in scripture and neither you nor Pope Che can change that.
Good thing we had the Apostle Paul. Apparently, no other Apostle may have an opinion. BTW… St Luke wrote the Acts of the Apostles.
He is not like any before him.
What Apostle had a different opinion about the New Testament? And...who DOESN’T know that Luke wrote Acts?
