Why not DeSantis? (Vanity)
08/16/2023 | Me, me, me

I could vote for the man, not over Trump or some others.

(But definitely over Christie, Hutchinson, Pence, Haley, Hurd, Scott)

Fill me in...Why is he fading? Personality? Policy positions? Political skills? All the above?

oh serious? What else do you know?

He stole the nomination from William Seward using Anti-Fa like thugs.

The 1860 convention took place in Chicago in a building known as the "WigWam". Lincoln used his railroad contacts to bring in by railcar, hundreds of "supporters" who bullied, intimidated, shouted down other speakers, and even bribed delegates to support Lincoln.

There are several accounts of this, and if you read enough of them, you find out it was basically mafia style intimidation and bribery.

Maybe Chicago was a rough town back in 1860 too?

Lincoln was also a militant atheist, who sometimes pretended to be Christian. His law partner (William Herdon) is the source of this, and he said that if people really knew Lincoln, they would not have supported him.

The worst kind of political opportunism. He positioned himself so that if Trump got sidelined by the Dems, he would be there to catch the windfall. That sounded like a perfect fit for the RINO financiers. He sold out early and cheap.

The indictments are helping Trump win the primary, and hurting him win the general election. Perfect leftist strategy. They want republicans to rally to him in the primary because most of the indictments are unfair, then literally put him in jail during the general election, guaranteeing the Dem win.

Fact: majority of the current ad spend is anti-DeSantis, because he is the main threat to Trump winning the primary, and both Trump and Dems are banking it.

Fat RINO slob? Doing the democrats’ job for them?

DeSantis policies are rino policies? Really? He got
rid of mask mandates early on, he opened his state earlier
than many other states did, he signed the parental notification bill and fought Disney when Disney said they
would fight to overturn the bill. Trying to do something
about the illegal situation in his state are policies of
a rino?

If DeSantis is fat, so is Trump.

Ron jumped in the race far too soon.

If only he had stayed the course as America’s governor and waited, he would be fine.

Waited? Waited for what?

Waited for the Trump train to derail. Then enter the race and pick up the pieces.

This is the game plan the democrats plan to use when Pedo Joe gropes out.

Then MoBama or Newsom will step in and save the country.

DeSantis denies the 2020 election was stolen and is not willing to fight the vote fraud.

That may be true, but at least deSantis has a valid campaign other than “vote for me, my election was stolen.”

I don’t think trump has said a lot about Ramaswampy.

He’s sure rubbing it into DeSanctus.

You sorta minimized the part about he actually fights back.

Reagan was not so effective at advancing conservative causes as was Trump.

I noticed someone on another website, when asked to explain what Trump has done for us, came up with a list right off of the top of his head.

Here it is:

A short list of things President Trump did:

1) stopped ISIS cold
2) EO stopping the drug companies from charging medicare more than what they charged foreign countries
3) EO forcing hospitals to disclose their prices
4) Move the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem
5) ENERGY INDEPENDENCE for the first time in my lifetime of 70 years, and record low energy prices
6) Started no new wars
6A) Abraham Accords, bringing peace to the middle east instead of war
7) Elimination of regulations, required to eliminate 8 to add a new one
8) Cut Taxes across the board
9) Increased the individual tax credit eliminating the need to file more complicated returns
10) Started the space force, sorely needed today
11) Replaced NAFTA with an agreement better for American workers
12) Put tariffs on china, starting the process of moving American production out of the enemy’s land
13) Brought back massive amounts of money saved in foreign countries
14) Withdrew from the farce know as the Paris Climate Accords
15) Withdrew from the Iran deal
16) Increased the $$$ of the average family by over 5K
17) Started the process of fixing the VA
18) Increased the spending by other NATO countries
19) Killed the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP)
20) Created several million jobs, actual creation not bafflegab bullshit
21) Economic growth rates were going up, somewhere around 4% before the marxist killed the economy with the scam chinaVirus
22) Lowest rate of unemployment ever, across the board for blacks, hispanics, asians, veterans, etc.
23) Opened ANWAR and had the Keystone pipeline being constructed.

I think that Biden in the media want Trump and are doing everything possible to push Trump, giving or allowing him the platform 24 x 7. With the indictments, this means no one else can compete. There’s nearly 6 months until the first caucuses and primaries, so this is meaningless at the moment. Many people cannot separate defending Trump against persecution while also supporting someone else for the 2024 nomination. If and as they do, I believe the polling will change. Otherwise, DeSantis and the others simply need to stick around until the first votes.

Personalities are different, Trump is in entertainer and talks in hyperbole, DeSantis is a technician and talks, details, fact, and figures.

By experience, Trump is an entertainer, promoter, and developer, DeSantis is a governor, legislator, lawyer, and veteran.

Family-wise, Trump is an adulterer, multi-divorcée, associates with porn stars, whores, etc., DeSantis is a clear and traditional family man.

Accomplishment-wise, Trump is talk, executive orders, and a little lasting action, DeSantis and has established a strong history of delivery action and results that are sustained.

And when you look at the specific policies, reflected by actions, while the mirror each other, there are specific differences:

Trump has already had four years, had he won in 2020, he could have maybe finished what he started. The election was stolen, no doubt, but Trump failed to hire good attorneys, failed to pay for recounts, and while Bush won in 2000, Trump failed like Gore did.

Trump had his chance, now it’s time for new blood. DeSantis, in many respects he is Trump without the baggage, as noted above there are differences.

Right now again, with the media and persecution, it is Trump 24 x 7, nothing is going to change that, so DeSantis and other candidates are simply treading water. There’s nearly 6 months until the first votes, it’s a marathon, frustrating, but it is what it is.

Here on FR, we see Freepers repeating the same cycle we’ve seen with the transition from Cruz to Trump, etc. Jim attempts to reign in the worst of the insults, but it is messy. There are a number of people, who thrive, maybe are paid even, to post every possible negative article about DeSantis. That poisons FR as they do the bidding of the media and Democrats.

And Trump is an effective troller, which aids and feeds the media and Democrats in their efforts. In the end all this does is reinforce the Always Trumpers, does not add to Trump’s support. He and his supporters are alienating everyone, which will cost him the 2024 election if he is on the ballot.

What it does in the interim is point out the problem Trump has in picking and hiring good people, keeping their loyalty, and sharing loyalty with the people that he has picked. On this point Trump’s character flaws are undeniable and the list of people who once supported him, worked for him, and now have chosen otherwise includes nearly every person that worked in his administration.

With that horrible track record, whenever pressed, Trump supporters resort to name-calling, insults, but not substantive talk. Just like Trump. And here on FR, we can see that in every thread where discussions are not knee jerk support for Trump.

Trump and supporters demand fealty and a coronation. Sadly for them, lucky for us, Trump needs to earn the votes, needs to win the caucuses and primaries. The first ones are still nearly 6 months away.

As I have written in other threads, I defend Trump against persecution, but I support DeSantis for our next president.

[And this is written on an iPad with Siri and her autocorrect that does not like me, so bear with the odd autocorrection and Harris-like word mash]

If Trump ever listened to Karl Rove, that was one of his biggest mistakes.

Rove is the imbecile that screwed up Bush's terms.

If they actually put Trump in jail, and the nation does not rise up with rage, then it's over anyways, and it won't matter which deep state stooge is pretending to run the place.

All of the above and his ambition is showing a little too much. The guy needs to stay governor of Fla. The presidency is not for everyone.

Those are great accomplishments.

So why? Why is Trump not running on his record?

Seems to me like running on “vote for me, my election was stolen.” is not a wise move.

People are sick of hearing this and he is just getting into a deeper legal hole over it.

Yes. He clearly cannot be trusted with properly ordering his priorities.

*NOTHING* is more important to the governance of this nation than insuring free and fair elections.

It should be the top priority of everyone.

He’s a milquetoast and he showed that in congress and how he’s handled the lawfare that he hopes will benefit himself not the country. He’s a warmonger and let’s others decide his principles. His conservativism only came into sight when he was being coddled to run against President Trump.
