I take an occasional Antacid tablet...says calcium carbonate is main ingredient.
Thar's yr test.
If you can concentrate long enough to read that article...and can remember it to post here...and can manipulate your computer to get here you don't have any dementia.
Everyone on antacids should want know if the real root of their problem is helicobacter pylori infection.
I thought it was Zantac gonna do me in?
Hope Cimetidine isn’t a PPI.
Oh well.
Voting Democrat would be a better sign of dementia & paranoia.
Yeah, I think that the very high aspirin content of Alka-Seltzer would be problematic on a long-term basis. But I totally agree with you, that it’s a great antidote to a “heartburn” situation. I really like the taste especially when used with very cold water.
“Plop, plop, fizz, fizz, oh what a relief it is.”
Same for me. I’ve been taking Omeprazole daily for about 5 years.
If this country had any health care worth a damn:
1. Many cases of reflux are linked to hiatal hernia. Fix the hernia and the reflux goes away. But a bottle of pills is much cheaper.
2. Lose 20-or more pounds and the reflux often goes way or gets better. Treat obesity.
3. Don’t eat 1/2 a pizza before going to bed and you won’t wake up with what seems like beans in you mouth in the middle of the night. Target behaviors that make the condition worse.
We in the US spend MOST of our money in health care on diseases which folks have brought on themselves through obesity, bad diets, bad eating habits, sexual behaviors, drug use, lack of movement, smoking, excessive drinking, ignoring what was a smaller condition until it became a huge problem.
Most of the reflux is behavior based. Almost all your HIV is behavior based, so is syphilis, clamidia, ghonnoria... much of you cardio vascular disease, diabetes, kidney, lung/COPD, are behavior based. The reason we’re not getting older isn’t how much we spend on health care, but rather how we choose to live our lives.
But, in the meantime, we get our solutions from geniuses like Chris Christie, a human tub of lard. He won’t address the std problem as he promotes the populist LGBTQIA agenda, wants more socialized health care, bla bla bla.
Ditto. One time release Omeprazole every morning. Makes life worth living.

That was my go to recipe. It stops it right now.
But what really ended my heartburn was losing 50 pounds and no more alcohol. And I mean ended, as in no more heartburn, ever.
“benefits outweigh risks.”

I read somewhere that low stomach acid can cause acid reflux. There’s a sphincter at the base of the esophagus that closes in response to the presence of stomach acid. But if the acid is weak, it gets only a weak signal to close and you wind up with acid getting by and causing burning. The solution was to drink a tablespoon of vinegar as counterintuitive as that sounds. I can’t remember where I read it, and I’ve never tried it, but I thought it was an interesting angle.
Unfortunately, famotidine didn’t work for me. Dexilant seems work best although several days a week nothing works. So it goes.
That is a sure sign of early dementia.
Only 1 thing gives me heartburn, stomach pain and pain in bowel. It is coffee! Tea, cola, beer, no problem. I guess I am allergic to coffee.
