A former Boston high school principal is charged with misusing nearly $40,000 in school funds for personal use, including two luxurious all-inclusive vacation trips to Barbados.
Naia Wilson, who served as New Mission High School’s headmaster for 13 years, admitted to authorities she committed wire fraud totaling approximately $38,806 in the elaborate scheme, according to a DOJ press release on Tuesday.
The 60-year-old educator allegedly started requesting checks from the school’s external fiscal agent account to be issued under other individuals’ names from September 2006 until May 2019.

This is what reparations look like.
Jeez , try to make it less obvious
People who annoy you?
I’m sure she just wanted to be loved—at least she didn’t fake a kidnapping.
The bling queen.
I knew before looking. Very ghetto looking.
When I managed a budget for a project, I had to submit some paperwork for whatever I bought. Someone had to approve or actually spend the funds. I never had the ability to simply spend money that was allocated like it was from my personal bank account. Who approved or actually spent the funds? That person is guilty as well. What incentive did that person receive?
If the system is set up so that one person can approve and spend the funds, then the system is set up to accommodate fraud. This is like Russian generals living in mansions on a salary that would not ordinarily allow you to live in a mansion. Then, after years of this, they are removed for theft and fraud. In actuality, they are removed because they are no longer the favored person in that role. The ability to remove them “legally” was always there and it served as their sword of Damocles.
“More money for education” will solve everything.
Largest black hole in the universe is American education. Millions of dollars scattered everywhere, no accounability, turning out morons who eat tidepods and can’t do math.
But, but - it was an “elaborate scheme”! Those always work...
Authorities have charged Naia Wilson, a former Boston Public Schools principal, with one count of wire fraud for allegedly misusing nearly $40,000 in public money on herself for things like all-inclusive personal vacations.
Between September 2016 and May 2019, Wilson requested checks from the school’s account that were listed as being for other people. She then allegedly fraudulently endorsed those checks and deposited the checks into her own account. The persons the checks were for never knew of the checks or authorized Wilson to deposit them in her own account.
Wilson used some of the embezzled $38,806 to pay for two all-inclusive vacations to Barbados for herself and her friends in 2016 and 2018. Both times, Wilson requested checks payable to other people who went on the lavish trips.
She’ll get off scott free, this is merely reparations due to her.
Oh right....I plumb forgot.
Ugly to the bone—as usual.
No need to look.
payable in pina coladas
Wow. Her thievery continued for many years. Her punishment should reflect that, i.e. she needs to spend time in jail and have a record that affects future employment prospects.
Total and complete kudos on your observation.
Meanwhile other nations are turning out engineers aplenty. We'll staff our garbage trucks with the next crop of "political science graduates" and their participation trophies....
Didn’t she go to Sandals / Jamaica? It’s all-inclusive.
LOL - That’s a principal?
