I’ve read the book and that was enough for me. I’ve also read both Animal Farm and 1984 as well as Heart of Darkness. But the short story that turned me off modern American lit was Shirley Jackson’s The Lottery.

The Demonrats have been cheating to win elections forever.

The 1st time I noticed was JFK against Nixon.

They could always expect the pubbies to take the highroad and not contest it and seem mean and combative.

I thought that changed with W but McPain and McRomney proved me wrong.

I did go back to bed and got a few more hours of shut eye.

Jill DeSantis fancies herself a stand-up comic. How she thinks telling stories about her ill-behaved children is going to help her husband is beyond me. She makes them look like a couple of useless adults whose children run circles around them. So not funny, even if you’re hearing it in the park or grocery store. She’s one of those parents who thinks her bratty kids are oh so cute.

I've never read any of the ones you've mentioned. But I have read all of Agatha Christies mysteries. I told my granddaughter the other day my collection is hers. I'm looking for a special book shelf for them. A paperback shelf isn't easy to find. I took European literature in college and loved Paradise Lost. I've read "Rebecca" by Daphne du Maurier probably 10 times or more and "One day In the Life Of Ivan Denisovich several times. Just started the "Barron Trump Collection".

You have such a gift of words. Sharing your gift is so rewarding I would imagine.
