I’ve read the book and that was enough for me. I’ve also read both Animal Farm and 1984 as well as Heart of Darkness. But the short story that turned me off modern American lit was Shirley Jackson’s The Lottery.

I've never read any of the ones you've mentioned. But I have read all of Agatha Christies mysteries. I told my granddaughter the other day my collection is hers. I'm looking for a special book shelf for them. A paperback shelf isn't easy to find. I took European literature in college and loved Paradise Lost. I've read "Rebecca" by Daphne du Maurier probably 10 times or more and "One day In the Life Of Ivan Denisovich several times. Just started the "Barron Trump Collection".
