I found that a resentment is like taking poison and expecting the one you resent to die.

I found that I had to go thru brambles to get to forgiveness.
And it somehow seemed like I had to go thru the stages of grief to get there.
(When the resentment had been with you for umpteen years, it’s toxic but comfortable and it’s easy to slip back into it)

I was troubled for a long time about a resentment and couldn’t get my arms around it.

A friend asked me “How do you eat a whale ?” The answer was one bite at a time.

It was also recommended that, on my knees, I pray for that person. Tuff to do.
I was told it was ok to start your prayer...”I hope that so-and-so gets hit by a fast-moving train”.
In the beginning, it’s not about what you pray for, it’s that you are praying.

Over time, I started praying for that person to have the things I am praying for for me.

It took a long time...15+ years...to rid myself of that. I found out where I played a part in the resentment and it was a slapped forehead moment.

I tried a lot of things that didn’t work. When there was nothing left to try but God, I realized God was all i needed in the first place.

Talk about freeing...
