July 25 (UPI) -- Police in California put their shepherding skills to the test when they were called to round up a herd of goats that escaped their enclosure and took over a neighborhood.
The Pinole Police Department posted a video to Facebook showing the Shea Drive neighborhood overrun with escaped goats.

The goats were rounded up and returned to their enclosure.
The ownership of the goats was unclear from the post, but the escape took place the same day Bay Area Rapid Transit announced it would be replacing its herd of fire mitigation goats with a flock of sheep.
Fresh meat, baby!
It happens a couple of times a year in that area.
It won’t be happening anymore if braziers are forced to pay shepherds $14k a month, as the state is trying to do.
Sounds like some BART employee found out what was going to happen to the goats when they were “retired” and decided to help them escape.

Well, beavers eat wood, but I think they would probably start chopping the trees down rather than clean up the brush.

Those wacky California democrats, always looking for escape goats!
We’ve had goat herds rotating through my part Orange County for years. They eat scrub brush so that the fuel load is reduced and wildfires are less intense.
The herds are surrounded by a temporary electric fence and guarded by a pair of Great Pyrenees dogs.
I think they’re crapping the streets in Los Angeles and Venice Beach, too...
