SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Jack Mogannam, manager of Sam’s Cable Car Lounge in downtown San Francisco, relishes the days when his bar stayed open past midnight every night, welcoming crowds that jostled on the streets, bar hopped, window browsed or just took in the night air.
He's had to drastically curtail those hours because of diminished foot traffic, and business is down 30%. A sign outside the lounge pleads: “We need your support!”

San Fran was dying 20 years ago. It’s accelerated.
Wait. The AP is JUST seeing this problem? Point in case:
Detroit.
Philly.
New York City.
Los Angeles.
Memphis.
Bakersfield.
Albuquerque.
Little Rock.
Tulsa.
Columbia.
Rockford.
Nearly all of the blame is being targeted at the pandemic. Whatever makes yourself feel better, San Francisco. And the idea of converting office space into housing is ridiculous. Who is going to support those residents? (groceries, pharmacies, restaurants, etc.)
“We need your support!”
Let us know when and where you move to a free state and we got ya covered. Jews who saw it coming got out before it was too late. Good luck.
Yes of course, San Francisco’s main problem is insufficient diversity.
VOTE REPUBLICAN OR DIE!
Ass-Press: The lying liars that write lies that shouldn’t be published. Pretty pathetic.
I read the whole thing. Fred Estaire must have wrote it because he or she danced around the actual issues like a champ.
The article admits what damage the lockdowns did, yet no recriminations, no blame...just mute acceptance. Idiots!
When times are good, the Left uses the word “diversity” to mean “Screw the whites and the heterosexuals, let’s just hire blacks and homosexuals. Push to the Left. Push! Push! Push! Screw anyone who is even slightly based in reality.”
When tough times come, the Left will (temporarily) grasp that “diversity” means a diverse set of people and resources, everyone welcome if they make a real contribution, new ideas from anywhere might help, let’s keep what works, let’s test out some thinking from outside the box, let’s focus on solving problems, not making problems.
But that second interpretation is likely to have a short half-life.
Hilarious how superficially they address the real issue…. Soft on crime city govt…. Period….. thats it. Many other places managed to emerge from the pandemic without catering to criminals and defunding the police.
If Trump was President, you can be sure they would name him.
You are correct, they filed this with nonsense dancing around the obvious.
Being: When you let the drug users and homeless run a city, the well off are the first to leave.
The first thing you gotta do is throw out the Democrats and double the police force. Can’t be done.
:) Good shot.!
Let’s continue destroying woke cities and conpanies.
The article doesn’t talk about “diversity, equity, and inclusion.”
What they may mean is that the city relied too much on tech, tourism, and finance, to the exclusion of industry and other things.
I don’t think whoever wrote the article (and the headline) was very clear about what they mean. They may be trying too hard to avoid mentioning the city’s most obvious problems.
I see.
But SF for some years has been benefiting from a real estate boom powered by high-income tech workers. That’s a sort of diversification away from tourism, isn’t it?
Of course, they didn’t like it. Called it “gentrification.” They had activists harassing the eco-friendly natural gas powered buses that were being sent by Google to shuttle their employees back and forth from home to “campus.”
The common thread (it appears to me) is left-wing nihilism, and suicide fantasy. Except they want their neighbors to commit suicide, while they bark at the moon by the firelight.
