When in Rome … another tourist has defaced the Colosseum.
A Swiss girl carved her initials into the iconic amphitheater — less than a month after another tourist stunningly defaced the ancient landmark with his and his fiancée’s names
Police have launched an investigation after Italian tour guide David Battaglino captured video of the unidentified 17-year-old girl carving the letter “N” into the wall, La Repubblica reported.
The footage posted on Twitter by Italian news agency ANSA shows the blond girl, whose face is blurred, using an object to carve the letter before she backs off amid the attention.
“It is the first time I have managed to film an act of vandalism at the Colosseum but in six years I have seen dozens,” he told the local news outlet.

I’ve been on a guided tour of the colosseum, they talk extensively about it being a place of evil. They also talk about how it was targeted in a least 3 major efforts throughout history to tear it down. It only exists because it was too massive. It sits in its current state because of those efforts. Eventually, it was determined it was worth preserving. And, if your catholic, it’s been exorcised and purged and crosses and other christian symbols have put into the structure all around the structure.
Exactly. Show all their nasty faces. And her parents’ who blew the tour guide off.
The other guy is such a liar, liar, pants on fire with his stupid apology for not knowing it was so old. Send the lions in for all of them.
Put the Secret Service on it ASAP!!!
Yet, to wit: Statues in the US.
Yep. There are plenty of exceptions, but overall, this is a very self-absorbed, ill-mannered generation.
Well said.
Very well said.
Smarter people consider the Colosseum to be the monument for the people who died there.
The short answer is: earthquakes and popes, in that order.

I don’t consider that an exaggerated respect for antiquity-it is just history, and if we don’t preserve history, we will not learn from it. Whether good or evil, every deed in the past was done by humans, not the structures or landscape it happened in/on, and it needs to be remembered-preserving those locations is a part of that. If you are uncomfortable with the unvarnished truth about history-and those involved in it, you can subscribe to the kumbaya and untrue alternatives that are out there for snowflakes and such, leaving those of us who are into reality to learn about history as it is/was...
Thank you-I agree...
Clearly all historical artifacts don’t get preserved, so it’s a matter of judgement which ones should be. I defer to the Italian government’s judgement to keep the Colosseum; it’s their artifact on their land, and from what has been posted on this thread it was apparently a contested decision.

To some trogs, nothing is sacred or respected. Only what they want at any given moment in time is important. I hope that they get what they truly deserve in life. And I hope they have a very rude awakening right before they get it.
Stocks. One day in the stocks where the Via Sacra meets the Piazza del Colosseo, and she would never recidivise.
Your first two suggestions have actual movements behind them, and denaturing Gettyburg nearly succeeded.
However, who wants the Sistine Chapel torn down? I have never heard of such a thing. And what are these "past abuses" that would warrant imploding the Cappella Magna? Or did your imagination just run straight to that idea?
I liked it better when it was just Antifa and the Taliban destroying things they didn’t like.
And Nikki Haley too, let’s not forget her.
Was it “Celadus makes the girls moan.” or “Phileros is a eunuch.”?
It’s not exaggerated
