Angela (Theme from “Taxi”) by Bob James.

Do TV shows have theme songs anymore?
Serious question. I don’t watch a lot of regularly scheduled TV series anymore, but when I do it seems that there is a cold open, then they go to commercials ,and then the show resumes without having a theme song.
Whatever the case, all the theme songs people have noted here are for shows that were on many decades ago, and not any recent shows.

Theme to Hawaii 5-0 is best of all time.
I might have to agree with you on that one. I would throw in Miami Vice whith it.

Hawaii-5-0 period end of story. It towers over the other 99 so far that they are invisible and don’t matter.
Now let’s talk about something else.

Some composers made their whole career writing for TV.
We all know Mark Snow’s Theme from the X-Files but he also did:
The Rookies
Gemini Man
Starsky & Hutch
Vegas
Love Boat
Hart to Hart
Dynasty
Cagney and Lace
TJ Hooker
CBS Summer Playhouse
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
Bull
Smallville
One Tree Hill
Blue Bloods
Fifteen others and about a hundred TV Movies

“Rockford, MTM, Hawaii 5-0”
There you go. Rockford got radio play and stayed on the charts for several weeks. Joan Jett does a good version of the MTM theme. 5-0 is perfectly in synch with the opening shots of the show.

Secret Agent Man is one of my favorite songs ever. (As a side note, I believe Johnny Rivers should be in the R & R Hall of Fame, and Jethro Tull as well, but I really don't care anymore about it. (Dolly Parton??!!)).
The Prisoner theme was great as well.

They missed the Green Hornet theme song as played by Al Hirt. Best theme song ever. Another couple I liked were the theme songs for The Wild Wild West and for Mission Impossible.
