Yeah. At night, I could ID cop cars by their headlights/parking lights.

Article was obviously not written by a ‘car’ guy/gal.

Indeed!

No mention of the Boss 429.

The author assumes that baby boomers were all rich enough to buy brand new cars for their first car.

I got my first car used for $400...and kept it for 15 years. By then it was hard to get repairs because it was so old. '59 Buick LeSabre with big tailfins...not one you see nowadays driven by people who have classic cars.

1965 Buick Riviera Art Prints By Danny Whitfield Factory TWIGHTLIGHT AQUA

I liked the 1965 model the best.

My dad had a 1963 LeSabre Salmon exterior with White Convertible Top. I had to use this car when getting my driver's license. Was sure I could never parallel park this land yacht, but I nailed it.

Freshly Restored Rare 1963 Buick LeSabre Convertible w/ Orig 401 Nailhead Motor

A friend of mine had a 1963 Buick Wildcat convertible with a 4 on the floor

1963 Buick Wildcat Convertible for sale on BaT Auctions - sold for $30,000 on October 12, 2022 (Lot #87,202) | Bring a Trailer

Before that car he had a Jag

He got rid of it because it was expensive & difficult to maintain. I'll bet he wished he had it later on when they really took off in price.

Vega’s just rusted away....the pinto however, had the bad habit of blowing up if rear-ended. 😏

And the Chevy "with wings" was a cherished hand-me-down to Boomers when Dad got another car or big brother went into the service:

The saddest part of classic car threads is so many posts end with “I wish I still had it.”
My husband bought his 56 Chevy in 1974, same year we began dating. He still has both, me and the 56.

Good for you on the cars ou have - I’m envious; particularly the 37 Chevy Pickup. I think they are rare by now, while you still find plenty of 50s & 60s Checy pickups.

“Yeah. At night, I could ID cop cars by their headlights/parking lights.”

One time, I had to point out the police car directly in front of us to keep my friend (who was driving) from doing something stupid.

The 1969 Cougar was a classic American muscle car...

My first car was a red 69 Cougar with a black vinyl top...a 351 Windsor V8. Paid $1000 for it. I wish I still had it.

When my family took long car trips, my two older brothers and I sat in the 3re seat of our station wagon, facing backwards, and we’d take turns naming the make, model and year of cars we saw on the highway. One of us would pick one we thought might stump the other two while the other two had to quess what it was. By the time we reached a lunch stop the winner got something from what the other two were having for lunch. I was 4-5-6 years ols at the time and my oldest brother - 7 years older, usually won. But that is when I started learning about cars, and appreciating the style of many older cars.
