I remember a young guy from Japan talking about his father. He said his father loved crab sticks and refused to eat real crab. He always kept a lot in the fridge. The son said a lot of older Japanese people really like it.

They certainly have their share of non-fish products, some of which is are incredibly unhealthy, including vegetable oil, sugar, and I think they also are breaded.
But then again, is that not the crap that Westerners (and many others) eat daily, anyway?

For me, whether it’s Shrimp, Fish fillets or whatever, I look on the package for where it came from. If it says “Farm raised in” .... Indonesia ...Vietnam ... India ... and especially China ... I never purchase the product.
