A Georgia mayor was arrested after entering a house he claims he thought was abandoned, only to come face-to-face in a bizarre standoff with the homeowner who held him at gunpoint until police arrived.
Khalid Kamau was caught creeping around the lake property on Cascade Palmetto Highway around 6:52 a.m. Saturday morning by the unnamed homeowner who ordered him to 'stay put,' according to a police report obtained by WSBTV.
'Do you know who the f*** I am? I'm the Mayor, and I'll wait for my police to get here and see what happens then,' Kamau allegedly yelled back at the owner.
Kamau, who has been mayor of the City of Fulton since January 2022, later told police he was on the private property because he was interested in purchasing the home, which he believed to be abandoned.
The mayor was arrested on criminal trespassing and burglary charges. He was released from the Fulton County Jail that evening after posting an $11,000 bond.
The mayor would not speak about the charges when he left the jail in handcuffs on Saturday, but explained why he was on the property.
'I just wanted to see the house,' Kamau told Fox 5 Atlanta. 'I do apologize to the owners. I thought it was abandoned.'
South Fulton police responded to the property for reports of a trespasser with the homeowner explaining he had received a notification on his phone around 6:52 a.m. that someone was at the lake house.
The homeowner was inside his home at the time he got the alert and said he watched the person walk up the driveway of his home toward his lake house, according to the report.
He then got into his truck to call police and said that he could see someone in his lake house...

Do he even think about knocking?
They are very useful. I had some kids spread tree sap they got onto their hands onto my car. Took minutes once I shared the video to have parents contacting me and dragging their kids over to apologize.
Wha choo mean, foo? He da mayah!
No, not yet. But after I install then you may be.
My son and his wife just moved from the French Quarter to the burbs in Nawlins. They ordered some of those cameras and before they could make it home, they were stolen off of the porch. A couple days later, three more packages stolen. Urban squalor.
Porch pirates.
One notch above butt pirates like the Bootygieg guy.
In the U.S., it's perfectly normal for political leaders (U.S. Presidents, governors and mayors) to creep around private properties on early Saturday mornings, illegally entering and snooping throughout private homes because they somehow imagined they were "abandoned" properties. As a government leader, you're always on the look-out for bargain abandoned properties you can buy for a song. President Biden is often seen aimlessly wandering around the White House and when he stumbles into an empty room there, he's probably thinking: Hey, this house looks abandoned, maybe I'll make a low-ball offer for it. My family made tons of money in our foreign dealings, so maybe I should put some of that free money to work by investing in "abandoned" properties.
Here’s proof that mayor is a great guy: His profile page on his city’s government website states that he’s “Black” and a proud “Socialist” (in capital letters). You can’t tell from his profile picture, so it’s good that his profile states his color. His profile also proudly says he’s the first Black Lives Matter activist & organizer elected to public office. (That’s also a great thing to be proud of.) He also insists that his name always be spelled in all lowercase: khalid kamau, as opposed to the word black which must always be capitalized in the U.S. (Whoops! Sorry, Khalid!) Even better, his profile page details how to pronounce his name, Khalid. (Oops, sorry again.) He also proudly states he’s leading the next generation of activists! Wow, that guy is maybe the greatest U.S. political leader in history. And it only gets better from there: He proudly calls himself an “Elected Activist!” His government website profile also brags that his city, Fulton (92% black), is the “blackest big city in America!!” (Fantastic! More racism, just what America needs!) This is the actual quote of the next sentence in his profile: “khalid is a mission to make America’s Blackest City Black.” Got that? His first name “is a mission.” (Makes sense to me!) Khalid (oops, sorry for capitalizing it again, Khalid!) also proudly declares that he then passed a resolution through City Council “to declare racism a public health crisis.” (Fortunately, Khalid is quickly fixing that extremely severe “public health crisis” by hopefully making Fulton GA 100% black ASAP.) Khalid even sponsored legislation to “ban” the city from ever asking job applicants about their “criminal history.” (I agree - no matter how long your violent criminal rap sheet is, what should that have to do with your job applications? Sounds like a real stand-up guy to me!)
Aren't there now motion sensor cameras you replace where you bell ring is, and they immediately contact your cell so you can see who is at the door? The system allows you to also talk to the person via a microphone. If the person looks suspicious you can just say, "Leave my property now. The police are on the way".
I see the ad on TV often and it seems to me the voice comms to a stranger could be a good deterrent. Plus, I believe they record the encounter. I'll try to find the name.
Then you’d go to jail just like the guy that shot Ahmaud Arbery. I figured that’s why this “mayor” figured he could get away with it.
Five out of seven city council members oppose him, they were elected by the sheeple. Why was this fool elected in the first place?
SimpliSafe is the one I see advertised mostly. There are others out there. Just Google “front door security camera” or such.
Why, is there a reward out for ya?

.........oops.........
My Ring doorbell does that.
There have been events where I have answered my front door while I am in another city. The person at the door had no idea that I was not inside.
We subscribe to the Ring monitoring. It is very inexpensive. There are sensors on all the doors. And their default base station includes phone dial-out on a common phone network. Thus, when my house wifi went out due to a power failure, my Ring sent me a phone message telling me the wifi and power were down. They were still capable of dialing out to Ring security people if there had been a door opened. Fifteen minutes later, I got a text message that everything was back to normal.
All I want is a front door unit/system that has motion detection, night vision, audio intercom, immediate alert to my smartphone, and recording the event. I would prefer to stay away from long expensive contracts that use the Cloud to record. I don't need every door, window, and internal cameras since I am retired and usually at home. I have other deterence means. Plus, our little inside Chihuahua would go crazy and wake me up in my bottom bedroom.
I is be the MAGA mayor and sheeeeyit
I declare. Those people are worse than they have ever been.
That's what allowed the jury to convict.
Of course, juries are made up of people too stupid to get out of jury duty./sarc
A juror in George Zimmerman's trial said "we wanted to convict him, but the law wouldn't let us."😯
