Earlier in life, I wouldn’t have questioned this, until I lived in China and Eastern European places - places where communism and its filthy, degraded materialist view fully implemented a eugenics program.
In China, for example, you will see NO crippled, Downs, or otherwise different people on the streets. They do not exist - they are ALL “weeded out” by technology and perverse incentives. Ironically, because of the total emphasis on the human as merely a productive/consuming entity, even people handicapped after birth are viewed as “defective.”
Its not just China either, its much of Europe, developed East Asia and as the article points out - North America as well. China is just an extreme case.

My nephew was supposed to be born with down syndrone... he was not. my sister loved the child for who he would be... he was not, and i wonder what the % is of misdiagnosis.
I love Down’s kids. I had one up on the flight deck one time and she was ecstatic over everything. Beautiful child.

I keep up on pro life news in China and you know what? China is in a terrible state. Their birth rate is very low. They have now said couples may have 3 children but still no babies are being born and the birthrate is dropping.

When my wife got pregnant, she was 37 age and I was 51. Her OB doctor advised us to get an amnio synthesis test to check for down’s syndrome possibility due to our ages.
We both declined since we were not going to abort regardless of the results. The baby is now doing great as a lawyer and is in demand by restaurants and breweries and hotels to write articles for their products. Oh, and she passed her bar exam on first try. I heard Hillary needed multiple tries.
The descriptions sound similar to the way bullying " doctors" pushing lockdowns, masks, and vax, behaved during Covid.
Also, if these "doctors" get tired of pushing to abort disabled babies, they can join the "doctors" lined up to butcher the reproductive organs of children in the guise of gender affirming "care".
My OBs nurse went ballistic when I refused the screening test as a NICU RN and pregnant at 35. I was well used to receiving dead newborns and resuscitating them, as well as those who’d undergone intrauterine surgery. That was just medical intervention, and I’ve seen God do much more impressive miracles.

Our daughter has genetic markers for DS also. We didn’t know until she was a teen. She obtained a BS in neuroscience with a 4.0 in 3 years.
She is very pro-life and participated in a research study to challenge the “DS marker science”. The study involved taking bone marrow samples from her, a very painful procedure. She did this solely on her pro-life convictions.
