The gold standard is back: BRICS wants to introduce gold-backed reserve currency
What was it like back when the Russia/Ukraine war had just started and it was predicted that Russia and China would launch their own gold-backed currency?
At the time, the idea sounded completely absurd. Today it has just become a reality. It looks like more than 41 countries could return to a gold standard.
The images, which were all over RT this weekend, carried headlines such as “New money, new world” and “Gold standard will be of great benefit in strengthening the new single currency”.
The official announcement of the new currency is expected in August during the BRICS summit in South Africa.
In the meantime, this BRICS announcement is an important milestone on the way to dethroning the US dollar as the world’s reserve currency. Not only does it reinforce what we already know that gold is real money, but it is also the clearest public challenge to the US dollar on the global stage in a long time.

Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has slammed Joe Biden’s decision to send cluster bombs to Ukraine, calling it part of an “endless escalation” that is endangering the planet.
Kennedy pointed out in a tweet that former Biden press secretary Jen Psaki admitted last year that using cluster bombs was a war crime.
“Now President Biden is planning to send them to Ukraine. Stop the endless escalation! It’s time for peace,” RFK Jr. added.
He also pointed out that Biden has opposed heinous cluster bombs in the past but doesn’t seem to mind as much now.
In various posts, Kennedy pointed out that virtually every civilized nation has banned cluster bombs because they are so horrific and have killed so many innocent people, including children.
The Biden administration announced that it would primarily supply Ukraine with 155-millimeter M864 artillery shells, so-called Dual-Purpose Improved Conventional Munitions (DPICM).
When a reporter asked Sunday why the US was doing this now, Biden replied, “We’re out of ammo.”
The White House ridiculously claimed that Ukraine would use the cluster bombs “cautiously.”
