You are correct, it is in the city but more of a residential area with supporting businesses within the predominately residential community:
Lakeview, also spelled Lake View, is one of the 77 community areas of Chicago, Illinois. Lakeview is located in the city's North Side.

It is not the burbs. It’s part of the near north of Chicago. I lived in Lakeview many many years ago. It was nice. I left the day Mayor Washington was inaugurated.
