Numbers don't lie, and in this case they paint a very grim picture indeed. With a budget of almost $300 Million that Lucasfilm are prepared to admit to, Indy 5 has a virtually impossible hill to climb at the box office.

I like Jeremy Renner, He was great in “Wind River” and “Hurt Locker” , He gets run over by a 10,000 lb snow plow and is still kicking.
How Kennedy has a Job is beyond me....
I wish I could fail so spectacularly as these woke, largely women, do, and still get promoted and huge paychecks.
Even without all the woke crap...
Who was demanding/excited for another Indiana Jones movie?
Precisely no one.
Harrison Ford is what 80 now, or more... he can’t really run or move readily, but we are to believe him in an action role?
And let’s not even get into how the franchise was pretty much bled out by the last fiasco of a movie.... ALIENS?? Really??
This thing was going to have to fight the tide, even if it didn’t go woke central.... adding that to the mix? Not a chance in hell it will be successful.
The Disney monolith is in BIG trouble.
Families are losing faith in them...
Theater owners are beginning to revolt, because they know the crap they are making aren’t putting buts in seats, and that’s their livelihood.
They have lost their way.
Even if they turned around 180 degrees, right now, and ended all the woke social justice BS, the damage is done, and it will take them YEARS to recover, if ever.
I think that space is RIPE for a disruption.
I have 3 kids, oldest is 26, youngest is 7.
My 7 year old is PRIME Disney age, yet she literally has no interested in anything they are doing... She hasn’t asked to see a single Disney movie in years.
About the only property she watches that is remotely related to them is Miraculous, which is a french made super hero show. And other than an idiotic “special” where they go to new york that went full on woke (I assume Disney had influence on that thing) .. the show itself is fairly innocuous for something being produced currently.
Fairly standard Good v Evil stuff.
I think the last Disney movie she actually ASKED to go see was Frozen II which was a stink a mundo bunch of crap.
AI Tom Sizemore should bring even more intensity, since the original is dead.
Dead! I didn’t even know he was sick. Why did the women in his life put up with him? Beats me.
Just saw the projected opening numbers and they don’t look good. It’s predicted it will open over the weekend at $70 Million. By contrast Top Gun 2 opened at $126 Million and went on to gross $718 in the U.S. alone.
Top Gun 2 cost $152 Million to make.
So I would say as it looks, unless it does massive overseas Top Gun 2 numbers or Avatar 2 numbers, it will never make any money and this will definitely impact Disney’s bottom line along with all the other flops they have had this year.
Well I saw where Ford was riding a bike on average 40 miles a day to get in shape and that is impressive at any age. So I think he’s an inspiration to a lot of people.
“Indiana Jones and the Visiting Angels”
I am not attacking Ford, I like him as an actor and I don’t doubt his desire to do good work, but you can’t escape age.
Go watch the last Star Wars movies he was in, he can’t run, they tried their best to cover it up with camera angles and other tricks, but it’s obvious he was a 70+ year old man.
As I said, even without all the work crap
This movie was going to fail.. they destroyed the franchise with Crystal Skull, and Ford’s age really makes him as an action star just not palpable.
It isn’t his age that bothers me but how they’ve made him a failure as a man. And did so to make Fleabag look good in comparison, although a lot of reviews say she is annoying as hell.

As I said this was going to flop with it without the woke crap.
Crystal Skull killed the franchise.
No one was demanding or even wanting another Indians Jones movie.
The work nonsense just hurts it all that more, but this was going to flop regardless.
I think it COULD have been done if they relied on him being clever and tricking the bad guys while the younger guys - son or maybe Short Round - did the action. Maybe incorporate married life as helping him find some peace and have him thinking about helping those he cared about to move on in their lives.
But an 80 year old action hero is a contradiction in terms. I own DVDs of the three Indy films worth watching. They had a good ending in the third film. It’s a pity they couldn’t leave it alone.
I agree, there is only so much they can do with a guy who is 80 regardless of what physical shape he is in. It was obvious in The Irishman that the de-aging thing worked pretty badly with De Niro trying to play a young guy beating the hell out of a character in a scene. The easiest thing to so would be to make Indiana close to his own age and go from there.
Crystal Skull was awful, I can’t understand with all the writers out in LA they could not find someone to do justice and come up with a plausible and fun script that would work. There is absolutely no reason they could not have come up with something similar for this film. A bloated $300 Million budget is absurd. They could have made this for a lot less money with a good script and a director that understood the franchise. Indy could have aged just fine and made it work.
