Along with some kind of tethered cable connection.

My question is after 3-4 days, what about the poop and pee in the sub? What does that thing smell like right about now?

I wonder if the "team" feels inspired about this catastrophe.

The people lost in the missing Titan submersible are dead-bolted in with at least 17 bolts and have no way out unless they're found

At the depth they were going, a hatch openable from the inside would have done them no good. Maybe if they made it to the surface it would have helped, of course.

I posted a link to this video earlier. The fifty year old submariner at The Sub Brief goes over what he sees as several single points of failure in the photos and available literature. He also shows the CEO making the statement about not wanting any old white guys working for him. Overall, the CEO comes across as the kind of idiot who gets people who believe in him killed.

I venture to guess the company can’t afford much more than what was just collected in fares. I bet this guy cut every corner including insurance.

"It seems like this submersible has some elements of MacGyver-y, jerry-riggedness," David Pogue, a CBS reporter, said on the segment.

Two new adjectives to add to my vocabulary. LOL.

Go woke, go croak.

Harsh, but funny.

Never ceases to amaze me how stupendously dumb wealthy people are.

The ‘’couldn’t change a light bulb’’ type.

Maybe because they feel invulnerable and are goaded by pride to test it?

I think it was “experimental” so I am not sure the same rules apply.

[I]f the sub simply isn’t able to surface on its own. “These ROVs are not capable of bringing it back up if it’s a solid dead weight, and we don’t have a 13,000-foot cable to pull it back to the surface,” said Hendrick.

That's the buried lead, so to speak: Even if rescuers locate Titan in next 5 minutes, they have no means of hoisting Titan to the surface; the mini-sub has to use the equipment on the platform it went down on to bring itself to the surface, something those on board presumably have tried but, appears thus far, are unable to do. Facts foretell tragedy unfolding followed by big lawsuit.
