I imagine the wavers that were signed were ironclad stronger than the hull they went to see.

It was reported that if the sub had technical difficulties it would automatically rise to surface
So hopefully the Coast Guard will find then

Helluva a price to pay for being able to squander money like that. Wonder if heirs will get the money back?

The pressure of water increases by 1 psi every 27.3 inches. At 12,500 feet it will be great than 5,000 psi. If they didn’t come back up within a few hours of the scheduled time, they will never come up. There is no rescue.

I remember when two fire fighters went down off Broward county with no life jackets, no radio, no EPIRB or PLB. The Hull Truth message board went collectively nuts over it. Couldn’t bring themselves to admit the guys had F-d up big time by going on a joy ride out to a reef after stripping the boat of its safety equipment after being sold.
Better luck with this trip I hope. But it’s similarly a joy ride.
No pity for fools on the ocean.

"One person stated he couldn't help noticing how many pieces of this sub seemed improvised, with off-the-shelf components," including a video game controller that was used to pilot the sub." YIKES!
And I thought I was crazy for going into the Central American jungle to participate in archaeology, excavation.

A submarine that takes tourists into the depths of the Atlantic to view the Titanic has vanished, sparking fears the five people thought to be aboard may have met a fate similar to those who sailed on the iconic ship. Perhaps the ultimate in Titanic tourism.

I recall a thread from within the last few years asking what use a small sub could be used other than tourism. I’ll see if I can find it...
