Why I Oppose the Censure and Fine of Adam Schiff Congressman Tom McClintock - June 14, 2023 The Russia collusion hoax is the single dirtiest political trick in the history of American politics. We now know that it was entirely concocted by the Hillary Clinton campaign and ruthlessly used by partisans in the FBI to affect the 2016 election and then to undermine the legitimately elected president of the United States.

Mr. Schiff’s active role in promoting this hoax is disgraceful and damning.

Jail him and throw away the key.

This is not free speech. It’s sedition.

But that is not the question before us. The question before us is whether a member of Congress should be censored and fined for speech, even outlandish speech, during the public policy debate.

They impeached Trump for saying protest and be peaceful, what's wrong with this rep, blind deaf and dumb?

Usually, when a Republican politician is called out for their stupidity, they go onto the senate or house floor and make a fiery speech or propose a bill that they know will get voted down. Red meat for the masses.

A lot of voters will be (willingly) fooled and applaud the politician. It works every time.

I expect Tom McClintock to follow the playbook.

I would accept McClintock’s take on the issue, IF he had offered an alternative bill to investigate Schiff for what he knew and didn’t know reqarding his comments during the Russian Hoax perpetrated by Billary, Inc.

His comments in Congress have to be judged by that. He is entitled to his opinion, and to speak it yes. But on such a grave matter as presented by the Russian Hoax, which required a special prosecutor and became part of an impeachment process, Schiff had no right to knowing lie in his comments in Congress and before the American people.

It needs to be understood how much the fact that it was a hoax had been revealed to him through connections and communications with those connections in the DOJ and the FBI.

I think Schiff lied, and knew he was actively advancing what he knew was a hoax. Without a DOJ investigation under a cleaned up DOJ, I don’t know how we learn the difference between Schiff being an ignorant tool or a lying fool.

Nah... nothing will change until the 17th Amendment is repealed. It’s the foundation of the uniparty, deep state and every other ill we all know exists in Washington DC

Yes there’s another answer, he became a member of the uni party. And the uniparty ends with the repeal of the 17th Amendment.

I am fully on board with repealing the 17th amendment. I think it has been extremely destructive to our constitutional republic and the way it functions.

Remember, the 17th was a response to corruption on the state level. It was pretty bad to go to all the work of the 17th.

Removing the 17th in and of itself will do NOTHING to remove the corruption.

Please do not imply that it will. Tell the whole story of WHY the Founding Fathers designed what they did.

Schiff deliberately lied to America

There's a huge difference between being wrong in good faith and deliberately lying.

Schiff wasn't merely wrong.

He was, probably still is, LYING.

And that deserves censure.

My understanding is that it was for the Senators, who were chosen by the states, to be advocates for the interests of the states.

Changing that to direct election via the 17th Amendment changed that dynamic completely, and no longer made them beholden to the interests of the people who were directly elected to run the states.
