Canadian air passenger rights advocate Gabor Lukacs told CNN he considers the practice of charging larger passengers for two seats a human rights issue.
In her petition, Chaney urged the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to mandate that all airlines create a comprehensive customer-of-size policy that “prioritizes the comfort and well-being of all passengers.”
Chaney, as well as other plus-size travelers and travel experts, are calling on airlines in the US to standardize their policies.
A plus-size travel influencer is demanding that airlines change their “discriminatory” policies that make larger flyers pay “twice for the same experience” — admitting that making such a change may make fares for everyone more expensive.
Jae-lynn Chaney, who made headlines in April after starting the Change.org petition “Demand for the FAA to Protect Plus-Sized Customers,” doubled down on being discriminated against while flying due to her size.
“People with smaller bodies get to pay one fare to get to their destination,” Chaney, who has to buy an extra seat while flying, told CNN Travel.
“We have to pay two fares, even though we’re getting the same experience. If anything, our experiences are a little bit more challenging.”
While Chaney has held firm in her demands, in April she admitted that if her petition’s demands were met, ticket prices for all customers would likely increase due to demand.

He needs to ship himself as freight.
Plane seats are not made, neither is anything else, for body sizes 2 and 3 or more standard deviations off “normal adult size”. Unless so advertized.
Airlines figure seats/mile as cost of doing business. Two seats, pay for two seats.
Not joking. An airlines flight that was 100% plus size passengers, would not be allowed to take off. It would be too heavy and would crash if it tried.
Business Class will now become Corpulent Hambeast Class where gluttonous corpulent hambeasts such as Jae-lynn Chaney will be accommodated paying the same fare as non hippo-sized passengers.
Airlines do accomodate larger passengers. They have bigger seats in business class. You can also buy 2 consecutive smaller coach seats and flip the armrest up. But its not free. Fat people actually take up more physical real estate, so its not picking on larger people. You are using more space. You occupy more volume. Its proper to pay more.
There goes Jae-Lyn, throwing her weight around again!
The influencer is welcome to pay for a first class ticket. One seat. Extra wide. Problem solved. They even get premium service.
She gets paid for this crap.....................
Business Class will become Hippopotamus class.
Airlines have setups to test if you luggage fits. They should have butt tests, sit here to test if you ass is too big for your seat.
Taking up two seats ... and, of course, wearing a face diaper.
I’m mildly curious as to what condition requires the supplemental oxygen.
My comfort and well-being are gonna cost a lot more than an extra seat.
The “livestock” end of the gene pool.
If you are a 350-400 pounder you ARE 2 people in that calculus.
“Taking up two seats”
In two directions no less. Why isn’t it demanding space in the row in front of it as well?
Being fat. Actually super fat. And so stupid she thinks that’s ok.
She will die at an early age and no one will be “influenced” by her ever again.
They also cost more due to increased fuel requirements to haul their lard.
