An Indiana mother has been jailed after she was caught traveling across the city of Indianapolis with her crying two-month-old twins in a milk crate strapped to her bicycle.
Blossum Kirby, 36, will spend a year behind bars after being convicted of neglect of a dependent for her actions.
Multiple people called 911 when they saw Kirby traveling across Indianapolis with the infants in a milk crate that was attached to the front of her bicycle in July 2022.
Some say they saw the mother nearly fall off the bike as the babies sat in the plastic box during the scorching summer heat.
When police stopped her, Kirby told them she always transported her children that way - because she did not have a car, court documents stated.
The kids were just wearing diapers in the mid 80s summer sunshine, and the crate was being held on by a bungee cord, pictures showed.
The babies, one boy and one girl, were taken to Riley Hospital for Children and treated for sunburns and minor scratches.
Brian Henderson, who witnessed the ordeal, said that he first thought the two children were dolls until he saw one of the twin's arms moving.
He shared a video at the time, and was heard saying: 'You can’t have those babies in there like that, ma’am.'
Suezanne Lynch had also seen Kirby transporting the children in the crate, and told Fox 59: 'She had told me that prior to me stopping her, she had one baby in the front and one baby in the back.

I can think of many needs this woman had/has. Going to jail for a year is not one of them.
By no means am I saying that was a good mode of transportation, but poor people have few options. If just one of those compassionate callers stoped to help they could have made a difference.
Incarceration for a year isn’t cheap.
I think it’s a definitely excessive punishment and a classic example of the poor being defenseless to the rich.
Don’t agree with me it’s excessive? It is TWO years in prison and the kids weren’t even hurt.
Let’s look at some other examples:
Casey Anthony—4 years and her child was found rotting in a plastic bag and she lied on the stand multiple times
Kayla Brewer—- Confessed to killing her baby with METH got 5 years PROBATION.
Alyssa Shepard —erratic driving hit and killed 3 kids at a bus stop. She served 2 years (also Indiana)
Genene Jones— A nurse from Tx was suspected of killing up to 46 children in 1984 , was given 99 years but expected to be released soon after “good behavior” in prison in 2019
I could go on and on. 2 years of jail time for riding babies on a bike in an unsafe manner is excessive, considering they were not even harmed.
Mistake meant ONE year in prison…
She must be mentally ill……
…at least now those babies might get the nurturing they need, and protection
I choose to be optimistic that the poster meant that it would be easier in general to get $149 donated to help the Mom by concerned witnesses to their plight.
I was raised part of my life in a mobile home and my parents have retired in one. There are good and decent people in trailer parks. Yes there are also some that fit the stereotype and I normally brush it off when I hear the term, but sometimes it bothers me. People could be more careful about how they label their fellow human beings.
Indianapolis is a leftist town run by RATs. A Foster home is not always a place of nurturing.
This mother kept her children because they were her kids and obviously needed help.
Jailing her was not help. It is also not a place to treat mental illness. Being poor is not mental illness.
Well, in Canada, Trudeau’s goons would have suggested ending her life because of her status. These poor babes were prime trafikking material with Mom or now without Mom.
I agree completely.
Judging people from outward appearance - clothes, cars, homes - can be deceiving.
Thanks for posting.
So the taxpayers support the mom while in jail then have to support the two infants in child care. Liberal justice in play. It would have been less expensive to help her out.
When poor people choose life, they need to be punished. Eventually they’ll get the message. The planet will be so happy.
Where is the church?
oh, the church is busy collecting millions from the government to relocate illegals to your town.
That was the point of my post.
A church was supposed to somehow know that this lady transported babies in this kinda janky way, and, somehow, put a stop to it?
“When I see someone with a trailer with children on the back, I wince. “
I see the prog parents around here pulling their kids along on busy highways. They’re very cool.
My guess is CPS will make sure she never gets those kids back. Pathetic. Poor lady.
Jail for a year helps government bureaucrats exercise power over the mother AND the children.
Ya know, we gotta get the human population down to “500 million, in harmony with nature”.
Killin’ off some human weeds would be a good start!
Didn’t Hillary’s husband have a comment about quality of people living in trailer parks? Something to do with a hundred dollar bill.
It was actually his main minion, Serpenthead Carville.
