A mother is suing her daughter's school district after she was 'severely beaten' by a transgender classmate last year.
Theresa Gooden says her 15-year-old daughter was attacked in the girls' bathroom at Edmond Memorial High School in Oklahoma, on October 26.
Gooden claims the school failed to enforce a state law which was signed into legislation in May 2022 and requires public school pupils to use restrooms according to the sex on their birth certificate.
Under law passed by Gov Kevin Stitt, transgender students who refuse to follow the policy have to use a 'single-occupancy restroom or changing room'.
Gooden claims that as a result of the law not being followed, her daughter - referred to as E.G. - suffered 'severe physical and mental injuries, severe physical and mental pain and suffering, and severe emotional distress.'
The lawsuit states that the alleged attacker, who was born male, was removed from the school by police after threatening the teenage girl with a weapon on October 21.
Gooden is seeking an amount in excess of $75,000 in damages from the district as well as payment of her costs.
The suit also states that the transgender student 'confided' in her daughter that 'he was in fact a male student that identified as a female.'
E.G. claims that she informed the assistant principal Maryjel Cochrane of the conversation, but court documents claim nothing was done.
The lawsuit states that the district was aware that the student was transgender at the time of the attack in October but had done nothing about it.

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
And there are those who call themselves FReepers (FRINOS) who think everyone should sacrifice kids by sending them to public indoctrination centers so they can change the system from within.
In the meantime, who is going to protect kids like this girl until the public schools are allegedly reformed?
no matter how red the state is, public schools are puss pockets of liberalism.
That is because most of the teachers/admins are democrats.
Even in the private schools they are liberal.
It is darn near impossible to be a republican in these school systems.
Yes, bankrupt them and the school.
Keep telling my kid to watch the content of my grandkids school material. They need to be in Texas so grandpa can keep an eye on it.
Time to shut tha school down.
In Florida EVERY child receives a voucher for $8,000 to spend where ever the parents want to send their child. Could be their own public school - could be a private school.
I know this much - in ten years lot of public schools won’t exist ...
Nobody should send their kids to public school. I live in Florida, and thank God our governor has opened up funds to let parents decide where they want to send their kids - we have a lot of good new private schools and classical academies, and in addition there are homeschooling circles for those parents who want to do it.
One of the particularly good things about this is that it gets black children out of the grip of the public schools, which are busy creating racially privileged, amoral, criminal monsters at the orders of the Democratic Party. So while their parents may not have the time or ability to homeschool or the knowledge needed to look for private school scholarships, now they can use their tax dollars to get their kids out of a system that is destroying all kids of any color, but especially black children (because of the Dem controlled teachers’ union, which has dropped the three Rs in favor of the big I, Ideology).
Only $75,000 ? Make it $7.5 million,
Oops, I forgot, this is not the super corrupt NY inJustice system.

The boy should be tried as an adult for aggravated assault. Sue the boy’s family, the school district and every administrator that had a part in this. If the freaks and freak supporters don’t start getting the message to stop this crap from law suits, then things will have to get violent.
aLot simler in my day...trans gender was a Queer!!!
Government schools are now so bad that it would be better for a child to **never** attend.
Illiteracy and innumeracy can be fixed. Many adults do it all the time.
**Dead** or permanent disability can’t be fixed.
This can’t be said enough!
Nobody should send their kids to public school. Nobody should send their kids to public school. Nobody should send their kids to public school. Nobody should send their kids to public school. Nobody should send their kids to public school. Nobody should send their kids to public school. Nobody should send their kids to public school. Nobody should send their kids to public school.
Yep!
Government schools are like big, fat, juicy pimples. They need to be squeezed from every side.
Shame and shun the workers who run them.
Work to end teachers unions.
Lobby for **full** and unrestricted vouchers.
Encourage parents to homeschool.
Encourage the formation of pod schools.
From your keyboard to G*d's ear!
Could be a red flag.
even private and likely Christian schools have the same cancer.
Won’t exist OR will start ‘hearing’ parents concerns.
Eight thousand won’t get kids into the best private schools but it will encourage real competition.
In Florida our local Catholic schools raised their tuition by a few thousand a year. Enough to give them more profit, while offing a break to the parents of existing students and yet high enough to keep out students who can’t come up with the difference between the $8,000 voucher and the new higher tuition rates.
