I think the only reason Trump ever elevated De Santis to the spotlight is to avoid having him running as relatively unknown- and then having a campaign position De Santis as ‘not Trump’. Elevating him this way, and then exposing him neuters that strategy. Everyone knows what he does/did etc. Just my 2 cents.

I do not believe this.

There is a meme that lists many non-MAGA things he has said and done (PRIOR to running) that confirm to me that he is 100% RINO.

I do believe his conservative track record as Florida Governor is part of the DS strategy to deceive MAGA voters.
