That’s one big overdue fee...
Seinfeld coming to mind. Mr. Bookman.
Wooo, that’ll add another wing to the library.
Don't Bundy That Book!
Just toss it in the dumper, Pal!
All the Librarians are probably afraid to even touch that book, in spite of hands being double gloved.
Now, if he was a practical joker type, he could have taken a mat knife, hollowed out the middle pages and installed a
Jack In The Box (with kazoos) ready to spring out when the cover was opened up.
A book about U.S. history.
Don’t let the democrats see it. To them, it’s full of lies and they need to rewrite the history in the book.
I say keep the book. There are historical facts about the U.S. in there which have been purged from modern history books.
If he returns it to the Library then they'll just burn it.
/cynicism off
They are probably getting ready to send it to the shredder.
Lossing, who died in 1891, wrote many books on US history, but his books are not all that collectible and can be had for a few bucks from the American Book Exchange.

I have one that’s about 45 years overdue and not taking it back cause I don’t want to be on the news
George Washington checked a copy of an English Language translated first edition of Vattel’s Law of Nations out of the New York Public Library early in his first term. Never returned it.
Mount Vernon staff recently bought a replacement first edition and handed it over to the NYPL, no backsies.

These types of stories show up every so often. I have old books that I bought from library book sales that still have the library information on them. I don’t think most of these books would fall in the “did not return“ category. I think most of them would probably be books that were sold at book sales. I have at least 20 in my collection.
