Kid Rock donates $5,000 to ex-Marine Daniel Penny's defense fund that has now raised more than $2.2 million as he faces manslaughter charges over chokehold death

Country rapper Kid Rock has donated $5,000 to a legal defense fund for ex-Marine Daniel Penny, who has been charged with manslaughter after killing Jordan Neely by putting him in a chokehold on the New York City subway.

Donations to the online fundraising campaign, coordinated by Penny's attorneys, have doubled in around a day - nearly 50,000 donations amounting to more than $2.2million had been raised as of Monday afternoon.

The 52-year-old musician, real name Robert James Ritchie, included a dig at the Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg in a note accompanying his donation on the fundraising site.

'Mr. Penny is a hero. Alvin Bragg is a POS. Kid Rock,' his message on Christian crowdfunding website GiveSendGo read.

Neely, 30, was killed on May 1 after Penny placed him in a chokehold on a train in a New York City subway station. In the following days when a video emerged of Penny holding Neely in the hold for around three minutes, protests erupted across NYC calling for criminal action against Penny.

Days later Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg announced that his office would be prosecuting Bragg with manslaughter without calling a grand jury.

Blacks and the left wish the most of we whites in concentration camps after they confiscate our wealth. The next step will be execution camps that will make the Nazis look like amateurs. The white leftists that are promoting this are ignorant of history and will go the way of the whites that assisted the black Haitians to remove slavery. One says this won’t happen because there are many good blacks but wait until it comes down to them and a white and one will see their allegiance. The best thing to do is get the hell away from enclaves of blacks and make one’s area safe from these racists and progressives.

NYC has the opposite of a "Stand Your Ground" law. The principle there is you're not allowed to defend yourself until you have exhausted all options for retreat. In NYC, actively intervening in the defense of a third party when you yourself are not under direct threat is a crap shoot.

And it wasn't a "choke hold." A sleeper hold -- properly administered -- doesn't compromise the airway. No compromised airway, no choking. Those of you who persist in parroting the "choke hold" myth are contributing to the prosecution's case.

The principle effect of a sleeper hold is to constrict the jugular veins. The carotid arteries don't get the same constriction because they're located deeper in the neck than the jugulars and the arteries themselves are more resistant to compression. The jugular will collapse under 4.5 lbs of pressure but the carotids take 7-11 lbs.

Compressing the jugulars restricts the flow of blood leaving the brain. And if the carotids are less compromised (which in general they will be), the compressed jugulars will cause a spike in blood pressure within the cranial vault.

A baroreceptor called the carotid sinus senses the high blood pressure and sends a signal to the heart so slow down. When the heart slows, blood pressure drops precipitously, triggering a condition called reflex syncope.
