Country rapper Kid Rock has donated $5,000 to a legal defense fund for ex-Marine Daniel Penny, who has been charged with manslaughter after killing Jordan Neely by putting him in a chokehold on the New York City subway.
Donations to the online fundraising campaign, coordinated by Penny's attorneys, have doubled in around a day - nearly 50,000 donations amounting to more than $2.2million had been raised as of Monday afternoon.
The 52-year-old musician, real name Robert James Ritchie, included a dig at the Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg in a note accompanying his donation on the fundraising site.
'Mr. Penny is a hero. Alvin Bragg is a POS. Kid Rock,' his message on Christian crowdfunding website GiveSendGo read.
Neely, 30, was killed on May 1 after Penny placed him in a chokehold on a train in a New York City subway station. In the following days when a video emerged of Penny holding Neely in the hold for around three minutes, protests erupted across NYC calling for criminal action against Penny.
Days later Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg announced that his office would be prosecuting Bragg with manslaughter without calling a grand jury.

From what i have seen in the way of pictures and from what the nightly news stations have said the guy that preformed the choke hold had assistance. I did not pay perfect attention but i do know that if you are the get away driver in a robbery you also get charged. Why haven’t those that assisted the guy doing the choke hold also been charged? Or haven’t they been charged since the one guy appeared to be black? Is Alvin Bragg being a racist by not charging him too?

This will be an interesting trial...in so far as what evidence the defense will be allowed to introduce. My only observation is that if you use a rear naked choke hold, you intend to do harm. I’m fairly certain the prosecution will take that stance.
Just a reminder...A certain man...aimed a gun, pulled the trigger and killed a young woman....and he got off scot free.

As if the truth would be released. It must fit Bragg’s narrative.
Bottom line, this was justified self defense. Sometimes when you fear for your life and safety and you protect yourself and others the perp is injured or killed. The perp could have avoided this by not threatening others.
