I am the proud mom of four kids. Three boys, one girl.
I love all of my children equally, but after having two boys, I was over the moon to have a girl and I’ve always loved the time that we’ve been able to spend together as momma and daughter.
But this past week, my daughter – who is 17 – told me and my husband that she is transgender. To say I was shocked would be an understatement. I didn’t know what to say. How to react. I just sat there in silence as she told us that she’s always felt out of sorts with herself. That she never really felt natural or comfortable. And that after many years of doubt, she’s now confident in the fact that she was born very much in the wrong gender and body.
I just don’t know what to do. She’s always been a bit of a tomboy, I suppose, but she’s always enjoyed doing girly things with me, like shopping and manicures and Real Housewives binges. I guess boys can do those things too, but I just never imagined that deep down while we were spending all that time together, she secretly thought she was meant to be a boy?
I know that, as a supportive parent, my first instinct should be to help her and guide her through this. But honestly I just don’t know if I can ever get my head around the idea that my daughter wants to be my son? She started talking about hormone therapies and surgeries and name changes, and I just shut down.

I would be supportive, and ask one request of her, “That she not do anything that might be harmful to her body until after age 25.”
I’ve worked with a lot of lesbians over the years to help them better to understand themselves, never to judge.
Often, when a child has developed no individual sense of self and they leave the family influence to enter college, the new peer pressure to fit in with their group of friends is very strong.
For many of them, it is a peer group identity, not an individual identity.
I would tell them it is their decision but they will not make it with my money.
That means no college money, no housing money—and they must move out when they are eighteen.
Yes or using power tools of any kind for any reason.
a. Since I an a father I would ask where her father is.
b. I would tell her I love her, but that it would be tough fatherly, honest, love.
c. I would also tell her she has no idea, nor will she ever know, what it is like to be a male.
d. I would tell her that she doesn’t get to pick the name that I address her by.
e. Hormones and surgery are about the worst decisoion she could make.

There are only males and females, through science and though hormone treatment can modify, it will not change that fact that one is either male or female.
Today a woman can live and love whomever. Physically altering one’s being never ends well.

Nope, sorry. A newborn is like a piece of clay. It doesn’t know what it is. It only knows that it is a result of what happens around it. It knows discomfort and comfort. It knows what it feels like hot, cold, pain, and sometimes wet, not what others feel or determine for it. It trusts and distrusts based upon how it feels. And if the feeling is preferable or frightening will create a behavior. It doesn’t even know it is poopy until it is taught that being stinky is not a good behavior as it is discomforting to others. There cannot be anything that provides a determined behavior in a newborn so everything that is provided to the child to react to is involuntary until the behavior is learned.
Let’s supposed there is no gender identity. Then everything would be accomplished through task. But that’s impossible as what we call men can’t have babies. And transformed gender can’t either except for desires to accomplish something at a personal level.
So are we not describing learned behavior? And a child does not have that or can interpret that until they can be taught. So what they are taught is what they are. Not what they are born as.

To which a gay friend of mine used to reply, “That’s wonderful. If I buy her the yarn will she make me one too?”
Step 2. Understand that a 17-year-old girl is NOT a rational human being, she’s an unexploded bomb that could go off with the slightest jar, and that “gender reassignment therapy” is EXACTLY like suicide in that it’s a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Daughter needs to get into serious therapy to figure out WHY she’s so unhappy with being a woman, and family therapy would probably help, too.
I would not accept a tranny kid. To do so would be accepting non reality.

If one of my children did that and I had the means to do it I’d immediately pack up the whole family and move as far away as I could get. Something or someone in the local area is influencing this nuttery and the daughter needs to be gotten out of that environment as soon as possible to try and get her head screwed on right. It’s no different than having a child that’s dabbling with drugs and hanging out with a bunch of druggie losers, yank them out of it ASAP and get them into a better environment.

The teacher from Florida, who uses she/her pronouns has been removed from a classroom in the Hernando School District (HSD) and police have seized three firearms and ammunition from her home.
The Fox Chapel Middle School teacher is allegedly transgender and recently learned of a social media post discussing her sexual orientation, negatively.
Again: For how many years have Trans Killers been killing innocent Americans, w/o any full public disclosure on the real identity/intent of those Trans Killers via our media/fbi/local leos???:

Gee, encouraging your daughter to watch such trash programming is not a good idea. I wonder what other garbage she has watched that has twisted her thinking.

Don’t know if it’s for real, but some FReeper posted a story about a father responding to this garbage by claiming he is now a woman. Supposedly, he showed up at her high school dressed as a woman, and she was “cured.”
