We are supposed to get rain on Sunday.

We got a hail/rainstorm last Wed. and the temps went down to freezing that night.

Had to turn on the furnace in the morning to get the chill off of the house.

Texas Republicans want to recruit untrained citizens for border protection, worrying Democrats

AUSTIN, Texas — The Mexican American Legislative Caucus says legislation that would create a new “Border Protection Unit” would give power to what it calls “roaming vigilantes.”

And the group’s chair, State Rep. Victoria Neave Criado, says the bill would impact Texans across the entire state, not just along the border.

Among other things, HB 20 would allow “Border Protection Unit” officers to arrest, detain and deter individuals crossing the border illegally. And this would be allowed “within the state of Texas.”

But some of the language that most alarmed Rep. Neave Criado and other immigrant advocates is that which gives officers in the unit immunity from criminal and civil liability for authorized actions. The Democrat claims even some Republicans are concerned with that provision.

“You’re going to have these civilians, non-law enforcement, that are going to be able to set up shop throughout the state, be able to pull people over,” she told us. “They can, under the law, arrest, detain, repel even citizens. That’s going to create a mess for our local law enforcement to clean up, which is of significant concern.”

Neave Criado says the bill could also hurt officer recruitment for police departments across the state already short on manpower.

We’ve asked the bill’s author, Rep. Matt Schaeffer, R-Tyler, to join us on Inside Texas Politics numerous times over the last few weeks. But his office has told us every time that the Republican is too busy to join us.

After a public hearing and testimony on April 13, the bill was left pending in the State Affairs committee.

Have you seen the report that, last night at one point, the Border Patrol were overwhelmed, and were ordered to stand back and allow the TX National gaurd hold the line.
And Biden rehired the company that built the wall to fix the holes in the wall around El Paso.
Both these stories I heard twice now on Newsmax but haven’t seen anywhere else. Have they been muzzled? Both could be embarrassing for Biden regime.

Thanks exit.
Good little cookie you are.

If you were working in my kitchen, it would be difficult, my hubby re-arranges it all the time.

So frustrating since he retired, but, I am glad I have hi.

Howdy peeps!
I haven’t been around much as I have been trying to spend some more time out of doors, after having to recuperate over the
fall and winter, from my broken hip.

I’m loving it, but the front lawn work is a killer!
So much blow down from the winter, and leaves and pine needles too-ugh!
Finally had to quit before the black flies carried me off!
*evil grin*

Hey Sis-got a question for you.
I thought it was decided to leave President Trumps law in place regarding the illegals staying in Mexico.
Did they not keep that law in place?

Texas AG Paxton sues to block ‘unlawful’ Biden migrant parole policy amid post-Title 42 chaos

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sued on Friday in a federal court to stop the Biden administration from implementing a policy that would allow for migrants to be paroled into the U.S. without court dates — hours after the Title 42 public health order had been dropped, and the policy had already been dealt a blow in the courts.

Paxton, who has filed over a dozen lawsuits challenging Biden administration border and immigration policies, filed a request for a temporary restraining order on a policy outlined in a May 10 memo. Joining onto the lawsuit were 12 other states: Alabama, Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, and West Virginia.

Former Trump prosecutor slams GOP ‘political theater,’ takes the Fifth at deposition

Pomerantz, who investigated Trump at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, said he was appearing before the committee “as required” because “I respect the rule of law,” before issuing a sharp rebuke of the panel’s probe and disclosing his intent to plead the Fifth.

“Fortunately, I do not have to cooperate with the cynical histrionics that this deposition represents,” it later adds. “Although the rule of law compels me to be here, it does not require that I play a substantive role in your theatrical production. Under the law, I can decline to answer your questions for several reasons.”

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), a member of the Judiciary Committee, told reporters during Friday’s deposition that Pomerantz answered no questions up to that point, calling him an “obstructing witness.”

“I’ve never had a more obstructive and less cooperative witness in my over 20 years in Congress,” he said.

“The witness has not cooperated in any way, shape or form, as simply appeared and, I would characterize as taking the Fifth on every single question,” he added, later saying “he has answered no substantive questions whatsoever, and clearly appears unwilling to answer any questions even about previous statements he’s made.”

I have been trying to find a tweet with video I saw this morning saying they were frantically trying to plug in the holes in the wall but couldn’t find it.

I saw another tweet that said that the BP had been ordered to stand down last night and TX NG and DPS were filling in.

I don’t have a clue as to if these stories are the ones Newsmax is talking about.
