I think that everytime NPR makes a ridiculous claim, I'm going to rant about it. Today they did a spot about the huge amount of snow pack and the good news for the Colorado river. But they ended the story saying that it would take a decade of winters like this last one to replenish what drought has taken. They never site sources. Yesterday NPR said that "the number one cause of death for children was firearms". And again no sources for their claims.
Why on earth do you listen to that garbage?
They don’t need no steenking sources.
I listen to NPR, like one might study old Soviet or CCP media.
they rarely will outright lie. That’s too crass. But they spin, they ignore, they cherry-pick, they spew slogans, or they draw false conclusions
They interesting in that its good to know what the woke regime is thinking.
- The most valuable frequencies, low on the dial, granted by the FCC
- The highest wattages, granted by the FCC
- Taxpayer-funded with endless claims of “listener supported,” and they also take advertisers
- No diversity of opinion - the only place you’ll find 3 homosexuals in a “round-table debate” about the impact of climate change on the Trans Community, etc.
- The only broadcasting jobs with absolute job security, highest wages, retirement, etc.
- A completely insular system where employees are vetted for political correctness at all levels
- No coverage of any science or opinion that might detract from their official editorial policy
- Not one Republican, I have ever met, ever, who works for NPR
- Endless claims of “balance” and “localism,” even on stations exclusively broadcasting national feeds.
“the number one cause of death for children was firearms”
Possible if you live in Chicago.
It’s a Double Standard.
Having hosted a daily prayer thread here on FR, I have learned in the last 13 years to be very careful about citing sources, making clickable links back to source material, etc. It is a standard I have set for myself, after being corrected a few times.
Even today, interpreting just one Greek word in Luke, I backed up my claim by citing Strong’s Concordance, and giving the file number so that anyone can look it up if they question my conclusions.
NPR, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to display the same self-regulation.
Yet, there are many who just assume their credibility.
Why do you suppose that is?
“increasing number of school shootings”
Based on that graph, the Parkland shooting year had the worst number of kids killed at school - about 50 in total.
“CDC data from 2021 showed 4,733 children ages 1-19 died from gun-related incidents.”
https://www.snopes.com/news/2023/03/29/guns-leading-deaths-children-us/
~50 (school-related) versus 4733 (all cause)
I suspect the lack of “respect” for life is the really big problem.
>children ages 1-19
18 and 19 year old adults are not children.
“Fear, fear, fear, fear, fear...”
NPR is located in DC between Joe’s place and Chuck’s place.
NPR gets fear mongering from both ends and we then get it in both ears (when we have it on).
“Why on earth do you listen to that garbage?”
I generally click it off about as fast as you could say Lester Holt and David Muir.
“absolute job security”
I read that they were going to lay off 10% of their staffers.
I just recently bought a RF spectrum analyzer. For a test I hooked up an FM antenna and displayed 87MHz to 109MHz. Boom, the biggest peak was the NPR station.
They are sneaky about lying. They were doing a story about whether illegal immigration drives down wages and looked at two poultry factories which were 25 miles apart. The had about the same wages but they were so far apart one couldn't hold down the wages of the other. Sounds reasonable until you think "Wait a second. I've commuted more than 25 miles for jobs before. That's well inside the same labor market.". But one little lie and they sweep that all under the rug.
I stopped listening to NPR after 9/11.
It was a good move!!!!
Why on earth do you listen to that garbage?

Anyone who listens to NPR and is unable to discern that it is an anti-American, hate-mongering, propaganda outlet is a hopeless idiot!
