Don Lemon and Tucker Carlson are hiring the same powerhouse lawyer — who's helped TV hosts secure multimillion-dollar payouts from their old networks

Tucker Carlson and Don Lemon have hired the same lawyer after leaving their respective networks.

Bryan Freedman is known as the go-to lawyer for multimillion-dollar payouts in messy media breakups.

He's worked for former TV hosts at ABC, NBC, and CNN, and a long list of celebrities.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson and CNN anchor Don Lemon both left their networks on Monday and have just hired the same powerhouse lawyer to handle their departures, according to multiple reports.

Neither host has announced a lawsuit or dispute against their employers. But the litigator they've retained — Bryan Freedman — has a record of helping TV hosts secure millions from their old networks.

Former CNN chief media correspondent Brian Stelter reported that both Carlson and Lemon are retaining Freedman's services, while The New York Times also wrote that Lemon had hired Freedman.

Messy media breakups are a staple for Freedman, famed for aggressively representing a laundry list of the entertainment world's most prominent figures. His clients include Vin Diesel, Quentin Tarantino, and Mariah Carey.

Freedman previously worked to help former host Megyn Kelly secure around $30 million from NBC News after she parted ways with the network in 2019. Kelly was fired halfway through her three-year contract worth $69 million, but NBC agreed to pay her the remainder of her original salary.

Tucker got a 3 year contract extension on Jan 1, 2021 for keeping silent while The Steal was unfolding. So Tucker’s contract expires at the end of this year. Useful idiots like Tucker typically get the old heave ho like this when they are no longer useful.

Both of them are looking for a new employer. I read somewhere that Carlson was interested in Time Warner and Lemon was interested in Cox...

I read somewhere that he has three years remaining on a contract that pays him $20 million per year, and that he will get paid out for the remainder of the contract.

One explanation for legal proceedings that makes sense in this scenario is that Carlson might have to stay off the air entirely for the next three years while he collects his $60M. He may be looking for legal avenues to buy out the contract so he can get paid more than $20M/year to work for someone else immediately.

Tuckers contract expires at the end of this year. Only 7 months of paychecks left if Fox didn’t terminate him for cause. The fact he hired this lawyer suggest Fox terminated him for cause.

Well then I guess he gets the $20 million for this year. Enough to buy beans and rice til he finds a new gig. In a few weeks. 😉

Lemondrop was let go nicely for cause. If Lemonygoodness files a lawsuit, CNN could request a demurrer, since it was Lemonheads vocal opinion and not CNN’s policy that led to his firing, after which CNN could file for dismissal.

Nielsen Ratings are in for Tucker’s replacement last night and he only lost 18% of Tucker’s audience compared to last Monday.

Tucker Carlson Monday April 17: 3,174,000 viewers

Tucker’s Replacement Monday April 24: 2,597,000 viewers

An audience loss of 18%.

Not a bad situation for Laura if she takes over.

Not really, it was no different than Megyn Kelly's settlement:

Megyn Kelly secure around $30 million from NBC News after she parted ways with the network in 2019. Kelly was fired halfway through her three-year contract worth $69 million, but NBC agreed to pay her the remainder of her original salary.

Laura is the dependable establishment talking head. She knows the drill and sticks on script. You will never hear an original thought pass her lips. 😏

IIRC, Lemon had been warned, both verbally and in writing about his on-air and off-air behaviors.

They had no further obligation towards him for leniency or consideration.

He has no case.

But he will pull out that ‘Race Card’ you can bet the rent money on that!......................
