Police in Arkansas were caught on camera barging into a family home to arrest the father - after he pierced his son's ears.
Jeremy Sherland, 45, of Tontitown, is seen on the viral video scoffing and laughing as five police officers arrest him inside his home, while his wife and son protest.
Sherland is heard saying: 'Body art without a license!' His son, who films the encounter, yells at the police at one point: 'I wanted my ears pierced!'
The situation began when the boy was seen in class with a piercing in his left ear.
He was overheard saying his father was drunk and put him in a chokehold, then 'shoved the piercing in his ear,' according to the police.
A Springdale police school resource officer contacted the Tontitown Police Department on Thursday about conducting a welfare check.
Tontitown officers went to the family home, and Sherland admitted to piercing his son's ear, but would not let them speak to his son or answer questions.
Police then returned with an arrest warrant, issued by the prosecuting attorney for Washington County, Matt Durrett.
Under Arkansas law, it is forbidden to 'perform body art on a person under 16 years of age, regardless of parental consent.'
It is also illegal 'to perform body art in any unlicensed facility.'
Violation of this law is a Class D felony.

Well, if the kid wanted to transition, they certainly would have encouraged that.
But piercing a child’s ear?!?!?!?!
What’s this world coming to when parents can make those kind of decision like that themselves?
Waaay more to the story than revealed. Some purely dysfunctional family dynamics at work.
The prelim for this felony will be interesting. I wonder if the other student who overheard something will be located and put on the stand?
Some of everyone's ancestors were primitive.
Reading the article, the kid said his father put him in a chokehold and pierced his ear by force.
Child abuse seems to be the real issue.
They used the earring thing like they used taxes to get Al Capone.
Not mine.
Im a descendant from a long line of highly advanced alien space demons some around here believe in.
...and yes, we all have pierced ears.
I would also add that if the allegation that the piercing was forced, CPS would take the kid and the father would be facing more than just the licensure charge.
And here I thought reality had scooped Babylon Bee!
Rush always said it wasn’t time. It’s time.
All legacy media are commies who hate police and military, except feds acting as Gestapo for Biden, even local papers
You’d think Freepers would be smart enough to read with a jaundiced eye anything with a jaundiced eye.
I am beginning to get used to the correlation=/= causation style of headlines.
This happened not far from here.
“He was overheard saying his father was drunk and put him in a chokehold, then ‘shoved the piercing in his ear,’ according to the police.”
Ah, well, fatherly love comes in many strange forms.
Employee (Whiskey Foxtrot) at my local Walgreens (drive up window) has multiple face piercings, face tattoos, fake eyelashes, colored hair, and I can’t say about nipple rings, clit rings, vagina rings, or belly button rings.
Yea, this seems pretty excessive, unless this man refused to turn himself in and was avoiding arrest.
But then again the Feds knew they could have arrested David Koresh on his regular and routine trips to McDonalds in town, but wanted the show of raiding the compound and dragging him from it, So they opted against a quiet low key arrest.
Good thing it wasn’t the FBI...they would have had at least 20 agents. If the dad had been his teacher there wouldn’t be a problem.
Ever since I been on FreeRepublic.com, it has been Free Republic Dogma that the Police are on our side.
Certain interested parties are louder than others, but this is a much less blindly pro-cop forum than it used to be.
Or busting down door if you do NOT get your kid a jab.
