She took what she called “a dying brand” and put it out of its misery. It’s what they should’ve done years ago anyway.

A large segment of Americans like light beers. It's always been that way.

I never bought into the trendy IPA beer thing, even while living in its epicenter. I just kept drinking American, Mexican and European lagers and pilsners. I don't prefer the reduced calorie beers, but millions of people do. Which is why, according to the article Bud Light was the largest selling beer in America

Arrogant Miss Priss thought it needed "brand freshening" and there was something wrong with it because men drink it.

I wonder what the NEW biggest selling beer in America will be?

One thing for sure: it's won't be something like Weasel Snot Extra Triple Hoppy India Pale Ale even though beer snobs think it should be.

Funny thing, as we get older a few of the guys who used to drink nasty IPAs now seem to enjoy Pacifico and such.

That Dylan dude in a dress is apparently a spokesman for Olay now.

Nike has hired her to push sports bras. Active women need them, trans women don't but pretend they do. I wonder what real women think about all this - insulted or just shake their heads at the insanity?

You think this can’t happen? Remember Schlitz, the number one beer in America?

All Coke had to do was start making Old Coke again.
It wasn’t “Old Coke”.

And that is why I don’t think it was a mistake, but a calculated action done to help the bottom line in the long run.

Classic coke is cheaper than old coke to produce, and tastes much more like old coke than new coke. Take a revenue hit for a month, get all sorts of publicity via the controversy, and then pull a bait and switch that almost no one notices. Brilliant.

On the other hand, all that AB may claim is that it has forced the Bee to stop being straight satire, but instead to report real news that can pass for fake satire

InBev is too huge and distributed to kill, but Bud Light?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I want a readily available link on my phone... no matter where I am, I can type in the name of a beer and it immediately tells me who owns the company and who profits from the sale of the beer to me. There is no point in all this driving Bud sales through the floor and Corona sales through the roof.
I think of all those semi trailers driving around America with giant graphics of “Bud Light” displayed on the sides. That will sure impress beer drinkers now.
AB is trading one population of drinkers for another. It seems like a good social credit sort of deal but a lousy business deal. Their DEI score is up, tough. They can take tthat to the bank.
If Bud Light was the #1 selling beer in America, then why on earth did she call it “a dying brand”?
Nothing wrong with a brand refresh campaign. Or a brand reminder campaign. I’ve been in branding and marketing my entire professional career. I have tried as hard as I can to look at this without sociopolitical angles but I guess there is no avoiding that. This was obviously thought out, and determination made that it would be a good way to bring attention to the product. And so I’d have to concur with others that who said this brand manager really must live in a bubble and have not thought at all about who their customers are right now. Of course, those who stop drinking Bud Light will be labeled of as some kind of “ist” or “phobe” but that is, ahem, overly broad. People associate themselves with their favorite brands - of beer, of cigarettes, shoes, even fast food. It’s almost part of their identity. This kind of marketing move disassociates them from the way they think of themselves. It should have been totally expected but they will just write it off as a bunch of gay/trans haters when really it’s as much if not more about their own personal esteem.
For me, I don’t drink much. The missus doesn’t drink at all, so it’s a delicate balance. Friday’s I might pick up some beer or wine but finish it all by Saturday. Social scenes I’ll drink more and wider variety. Not a fan of IPA myself either. Never liked Bud or Bud Light or Pabst at all I get instant indigestion from the first sip. Miller is OK. Coors Light I have a certain personal fondness for. Modelo tastes OK but gives me digestive problems. Pacifico is tasty. I like some of the stronger Belgian ales but maybe that’s just because they are stronger and I only drink for about 5 hours a week I want it to count :-)
I don’t always boycott beer but when I do it’s because they represent prancing faggots.
This government-corporate alliance of political power used to force citizens to comply with their political aims (there used to be a word for this) is being seen in every board room of every Fortune 500 company.
You guys who do not accurately grasp what I am saying about the corruption of government causing the civil war need to read this.
