They have way too many issues for everyday use. And they are not so environmentally friendly. The are very difficult to operate/dangerous, and remember that stored water freezes in the cold. Not to mention what would happen to the expelled steam in the cold.

There was something going on in 1944 that made gasoline hard to get. Wood was plentiful and was a good fuel. They used pyrolysis to gasify the wood so you could feed the gaseous fuel to your internal combustion engine. (it's hard to feed logs, chips or sawdust through your carburetor).

A bus, powered by wood gas generated by a gasifier on a trailer, Leeds, England c.1943

Yeah, use steam because it isn't a greenhouse gas.

True. But the slow combustion doesn’t create nerve gases like high compression engines do. Thee are always trade offs.

All ICE are ultra low efficiency. 40 to 60% Power is lost due to friction and heat.

Turbines are not engines. Some, are very low and some have got so they are rather high as far as being efficient.

The number of cylinders is absolutely relevant. Lets see a four cylinder ICE produce 6 to 8 thousand HP.

They can not, nor never will.

I don’t think the wokes want to replace internal combustion engine with external combustion engines.

I would not bet against horse drawn wagons in the rural areas.

They will insist on banning the wheel and fire in all forms.

Sorry, but you are full of shiff on this one.
Steam is the best heat conversions devised by man as measured in BTUs, an ISO unit.
That is the energy required to produce work.
p=mv.
I’m not going to teach you guys physics and calculus.
To put in laymans terms,
Why do most all major fossil/nuke fueled powered plants use steam to generate electricity?
Because it is more efficent!

“I don’t think the wokes want to replace internal combustion engine with external combustion engines.”

IMHO the woke crowd doesn’t care about what choice is made, they just want to be the ones making the choice. They may also revise their choice in the future (to save the children or the planet). It is all about control and power.

I did it with an automatic. You only have to stick it in neutral and push. Come to think of it, I did it much more recently, but discounted it mentally because it was rolling it downhill.

I always thought that nuclear power might make steam work. I would think it could heat water the fastest. Collisions would be an issue.

the internal combustion engine remains the most affordable efficient means of transportation...

The woke will not steam cars as they use too much water resources that need to used for the endangered fish.

Horses don’t really produce methane in the quantity that cattle do. Only one stomach.

And most people generally like horses. Black Beauty and all that. The leftists would have a very hard time ginning up any argument against them.

Steam is generated by heating water with nasty fossil fuels. It’s not allowed.
