“I was in [the costume] all that day, and then they said, ‘We’re going to have a group prayer about 9/11,’ ” he continued.
“And I couldn’t get the thing — I would’ve held everyone for a half-hour getting all that prosthetic makeup off — so, as I remember it, everyone else was [wearing] civilian clothes, I’m dressed as the Turtle Man, with a bald head, and I’m holding hands, and I’m lowering my head and praying, and I just thought at the moment: ‘This is very strange.’ “

I saw Carvey a few years ago at a private event.
He was the best comedian I ever saw. PG show. Remarkably funny
It's very good, but they (mostly carvey) have ADHD and are constantly interrupting their guests, they don't often get to SNL "fly on wall" stuff, and some guests were never on the show.

If you want fly on the wall stuff, I’m currently reading “Live From New York.” It’s all quotes from cast, writers and producers. Really a fascinating historical read about a fascinating show.
Carvey is one of my very favorite performers, and this is his audition for SNL, which became a thing on the show. Love it so much:
