But the article is missing some key information:
GPA 4.1 our of what? 4.1 out of 4?
What were the SAT test scores? She says 1100, was that 700 Reading and 400 Math? "The average SAT score for the class of 2021 was 1060, up by nine points from the class of 2020, according to a report from the College Board, which administers the SAT." Something's off here.
Sounds like she needs to go to Junior College to prove herself aiming to get into a school of her choice.
However, I have to wonder how a black female would not be readily accepted into a College STEM?
All she needs to do is change her social media to say she’s transitioning to an it/something, put up a lot of Ukraine flags and rail against white privilege, and bobs yer uncle she’d get accepted 🤣🤣🤣
1100 on the SAT is not impressive, so no one should be surprised if she was tmrejected from top schools
Just having the name C’Lette should have gotten her into Harvard.
Schools track grades at schools
Some high schools inflate grades to push out students
Those SATs are terrible for someone trying to do a legit STEM program at a good college. Also telling, she didn’t share her AP exam scores.
I'm surprised too. Recruiters should be at her door. They need her for the covers of their brochures.
4.1 GPA and 1100 SAT - hmmm.
Grade inflation does not translate to SAT inflation.
McDonalds is hiring.
She says she took nine AP classes. I suspect she got high grades in the classes but did poorly on the AP exams.
Yes, 4.1 out of 4.
This is due to AP (Advance Placement) classes being viewed as "extra credit," and enabling one to boost one's GPA.
Regards,
That is a low SAT score. The resume sounds great otherwise, especially being a black female applying for STEM. She must have really bombed interviews and essays.
My son has a degree in the STEM field. Every single school that sent him literature had girls on the cover photos. The school he attended was very small with only a handful of female students. (He said that none of them were the ones on the literature.)
Watch Rudy? Does she have Down’s ?
> did nine AP classes <
If that’s true, it’s VERY impressive. I’m a retired high school teacher. And I know of many capable students who avoided AP classes because they simply didn’t want to do the extra work.
> 4.1 out of 4? <
Probably. Because AP classes are so difficult (freshman college level, actually) AP grades are given more weight. For example, an ‘A’ in regular physics is a 4.0. An ‘A’ in AP physics is usually a 4.25.
Tell her to go to Community College, learn to code. Or, learn to weld.
C’Lette is up there with Babs and Mandy.
That’s how I saw it too. Grade inflation makes students think they are doing well, and are really smart. But her SATs are nothing to brag about and her silence on AP exam results says a lot.
Good schools actually do students a favor by indicating “you won’t be successful here”. She should aim lower. Less debt too.
Absolutely. One thing that is indicated by a high SAT score is diligence, and diligence is necessary for success in any rigorous college program.
Maybe the young lady should consider a "career" as a TikTok "content creator."
She went to school with a bunch of apes and she can now read.
1100 isn’t terrible. She could major in a lot of things other than STEM.
