A gay man who lives in Washington State has been branded 'a spoiled brat' after demanding his entire family stop voting Republican and forcing his father to leave the GOP.
Ryan Short, 42, was speaking to his 80-year-old father Richard, a veteran who lives in Dallas, Texas, when he discovered his dad was still a Republican.
'We were just having one of our random catch-ups and he just casually said, 'I'm still Republican,'' Short said, with his dad reaffirming his stance after Ryan pointed out what he sees as the GOP's rhetoric against LGBTQ people.

“Bye son.
Is that really so hard?”
Yes. What’s the big deal about this? I know several people who have family members that don’t talk to each other. This has been going on since Cain and Able
Such a queer thing to do
Also have severed ties with progressive sister living on LI as well as quite a few extended family on East Coast pretty much complete since 2016.
AS for me, their loss and spending time working to keep Wisconsin free- going out now door to door for Judge Dan Kelly in the snow
A successful prosecution is not the point.
The prime objective is handcuffs, mugshot, fingerprints and tying him up in court until the Election is stolen yet again.
It’s Dealey Plaza, 21st Century Style.
How very tolerant of him.
Shouldn’t the son be an “ally” for his father being a member of an obviously oppressed minority??
Mental disease. Period.
In some ways it pains me that they’re lost to me. I’m relieved that since my parents are gone they’re not here to see this but my siblings chose this, not me.
One thing is for sure, now I know how they felt in 1861.
The older I get the more I find myself responding to demands, ultimatums, requirements, and insistences with a simple two word response;
No, not that one
This one
“Make me”
I have seen many parents destroyed by children
My twin brother is an ultra-liberal retired teacher who had to get a job at the evil “Walmart” when he figured out his teacher’s retirement wasn’t cutting it. Back when Gerald Ford ran for president, Dad put a President Ford bumper sticker on the front bumper of my brother’s car. As he pulled into his parking spot facing the school every day, it took my brother over 2 weeks to figure out why the other teachers stopped talking to him. Dad was a good Republican and a great practical joker.

The Hedonist Dims (which is very similar to the pagan Greco-Roman world of the New Testament) dissing their non-Hedonist Republican parents is really an extension of the spiritual war Jesus warned about.
Same here.
PLEASE! Call your Lawyer on Monday and change your will, Pops! :)
My first thought was that this must be a Babylon Bee headline.
Infortunately, this father is like so many of our Republican politicians, otherwise known as Rinos.
Here’s an old family heirloom I’m handing down to you. It’s the old tin plated, hand me down—fu*k you!
I barely speak to my brothers anymore. They turned out to be a pair of NPR Republicans who really believe Trump is a criminal and there was a violent insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021.
The more time passes, the easier it is to live without their presence in my life. Not sure why the dad caved.
The other possibility is that, at 80, his father is rather senile or sickly — and thus can be pushed around/intimidated.
