Good evening fellow Freepers. I just got me a Roku device and I'm looking for suggestions for what I should add to my channel lineup.
I got some already, but I'm looking for more conservative news channels as well as family friendly movie/TV channels to subscribe to.
Thanks all!
Reelz has some great documentaries.
Yes, definitely an antenna to go with it - many markets have up several dozen or even 100+ channels. Should never need to pay for TV again with an antenna and a Roku box and the decent free apps.
There is a TCM app on Roku.
Exactly. Tons of free TV that way.
Roku is great. Thousands of channels. I use six:
AFV Kids, AFV Pets, Italy, Surf, Youtube, and KTLA News.
On Roku I watch British Antique Roadshow, Sue Thomas FB Eye, and Fail Factory. Never a dull moment with Roku.
I have ROKU. One channel you might look into is EPOCHTV, for conservative commentary, documentaries, even classical music.
There are TONS of channels to choose from. Another one is Silent Movie Classics.
I’ve used free trials to watch a show during the one week trial period. I put a reminder on my phone calendar to tell me to cancel at Day 6.
Another way to do it is to use the privacy.com virtual credit card service. Another FReeper told me about it a couple months ago and it is great. You connect the “privacy” service to your checking account via the “Plaid” banking service (very easy to do). In “Privacy,“ you generate one card number for each merchant you buy from. You get a regular card number, an expiration date, and a CCV number just like a credit card. You can set spending limits on your virtual cards with a variety of options: a one-time use (good for trials); a per-transaction cap; a daily cap; an annual cap; and some others. For a trial, a one-time card would be good. If the merchant tries to use it again, they get a “denied” error. The only downside is that you don’t get the float of a regular credit card because it draws directly from your checking account. It behaves more like a debit card in that respect. I also don’t know if you get the fraudulent charge protection you get with a credit card.
And Pluto also carries OANN and NEWSMAX

EPOCHTV
Thanks for that one!
You could check out the Bob Barker 24/7 Price is Right channel from early 80’s..it is amazing watching the audience back then compared to the freaks of today.
Both amazing and SAD.
Pluto
Sling
Prime
I checked out many of your suggestions and added many of them. Thank you!
I got Pluto and Sling, thank you!
I got most of those, but thank you for the suggestions!
Unfortunately. I’m not close enough to a major city to get channels over an antenna. Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, South Bend, Merrillville are all too far away for me to pick up a signal.
I like Pluto. There are so many it comes down to what you like. Pluto has lots of choices.
That’s unfortunate, but as more ATSC 3.0 channels come online that may change for you in the future.
You should be able to find a number of “MeTV like” streaming channels and shows on those apps you’ve added. And on regular YouTube - YouTube itself has a “free” section of movies and shows - you have to press “left” when you’ve loaded the app and scroll down to it, then scroll down to the “free with ads” section.
Sling is a paid service - careful.
Redbox and Xumo do as well, and you don’t have to worry about being constantly bombarded with ads from things like RuPaul’s drag race (and even worse) like you do on Pluto. There’s a 24/7 Price is Right channel that was first on Pluto but it is now also on Redbox - that was a nice thing to just put on as background during family gatherings, etc. but then Pluto started airing ads for things like that with inappropriate content so it wasn’t safe for kids - thankfully that is not currently the case with Redbox.
Add in Rumble, they have some very good programs. I get Newsmax on Rumble.
