Metformin, the gold standard for diabetes treatment, causes modest weight loss The cheap drug is popular among tech figures for purported anti-aging benefits
It is one of several highly popular tools out there for promoting weight loss
A cheap diabetes pill has become the latest craze among tech moguls who claim it can reverse aging and melt body fat - but it can cause explosive diarrhea.
Studies show the 20c pill promotes weight loss, while preliminary studies in mice models suggest the medication can improve life and health spans.
Metformin - the world's most common treatment for type 2 diabetes - has gained traction in recent years among people like Ariel Poler, a veteran angel investor in biotech, and Jim Mellon, a UK entrepreneur and co-founder of the biotech firm Juvenescence.
Metformin has in some ways been overshadowed in recent months by other, more effective weight-loss drugs like Wegovy and Ozempic.
But those drugs can cost more than $1,000 a month, need to be injected regularly and are currently facing a national shortage.

Same here. If you go to a doctor/ dentist here (upstate NY) they have the friggin mask requirement.
Wait until they can no longer tolerate it. The explosive diarrhea can be VERY disconcerting!
You have quite a health program. You are not messing around. Thanks!
1) It can reverse aging and melt body fat
2) Or it can cause explosive diarrhea
Hum? That is one heck of a toss up. Tough call.
Low Dose Naltrexone can also be used to lose weight. Off label use.
I recently had food poisoning. My miracle cure for this is activated charcoal. I took it every few hours. However, it can absorb your other medications. So in essence might counter my blood pressure medicine. But the next day my blood pressure was lower that it had been in a while. I have no concept of what happened with all of that.
“OH and I take regular Met to avoid the potential of timed release allegations of cancer with the additives.”
Can you explain this. Are you talking about the cancer allegations about NAD+..and if so how does Met counter that?
Been taking berberine for two or three years — nothing to write home about, but does lower my A1C modestly.
Tried glucophage earlier but couldn’t tolerate even small doses (250mg).
Not in the same category, but Low-Dose Naltrexone is definitely helping me to lose weight (about 5% in three months). The LDN is combined with bupropion for synergistic effect.
You know more about metformin than your Docs, because you did/do your research. Many Docs don't want to try new ways. They prefer to stay in their grove and make the big bucks. If they are able to. You were rocking the boat.
“Im 68 this summer and am frequently told I look 50. “
Same here. I have two “girlfriends” in their 40s - early 50s.
I take what you take other than the metformin.
I am only now beginning to exercise because I do have some chronic co-morbidities but starting to be less burdensome (mainly credit the LDN).
I’m beginning to realize that the main stream medical profession knows little about diabetes type 2.

“how aghast the MSM world was at a deworm medication being used for a virus”
And if they were ACTUAL journalists they would’ve done their research and learned that the “deworm” medication was originally created for human use.
The Lab today still had the mask requirement. I left it dangling off my ear in the waiting room and they left me alone. Thank God. Ugh
The eye doctor’s office last week still had the mask requirement, too. But I took it off in the exam room and the doc was ok with that. I told him about the Cochrane Study (meta study - study of studies and trials) that says the things are useless. He was not familiar with that.
“The eye doctor’s office last week still had the mask requirement”
My eye doctor hated the masks and preferred that we not wear them. He had seen too many eye infections from people breathing the crap collected in the masks up into their eyes.
Probably due to Genes and Jeans.
Berberine has the same effect.. more expensive.
Only if it's Ivermectin.
